OK here is what's going to happen. If you are interested post where you are from. I will find a central place where it would be good to meet up (probably a dinner or bar) and then I will set up a day and date. If it works for everyone we can make it a regular thing. I am from Huntington ext 50 on the LIE

Hey everyone. I’ll be honest, getting some free time on the weekends is difficult but some times I’ll find out I’m free on the day of. If you do plan a trail ride somewhere let me know about it and I’ll try to make the time.

With that said I had some free time this past Sat and decided to head to the beach. I ended up driving out to Breezy Point (Queens) and drove all the way out on the beach. This weekend or next weekend I’m going to try to get the permit you need to be able to legally drive on the beach. It’s a fishing 4x4 beach permit that gives you access to the beach there under certain requirements. I think it’s a $50 permit and requires you to watch an instructional video about driving in the sand and info on the birds over there. It’s winter, shore fishing is no good right now and I took the chance driving out there to see what it was about to see if it was worth the money for the permit (fines are not cheep if you get caught.) Anyway, it was great! Short little trial out to the beach and then you can head East or West once you’re on it. If you head West you can take it all the way to the end of the jetty (maybe ½ mile) and I’m not sure how far you can go if you head East. To get there drive over the bridge that takes you to the Rockaways, head West to Breezy Point and just keep going all the way to the end. The road makes a sharp left turn and the sand road is just off on your right side (there is also a big sign saying access by permit only, yes I didn’t follow it, no I won’t do it again until I get the permit.)

I’m also going to try to get another permit for some of the beaches further east on the Island. I love fishing but I’ve never done it from an ocean beach, so I’ll see if I can get into shore fishing or not. But best of all, I love driving on the beach.

By the way, I have 235/70/16 stock tires and I was fine even without airing down. My RPM’s were up pretty high but when I go again I’ll drop my psi down to about 10 and I’m sure it’ll be easier on the engine & transmission that way.

Just wanted to let you know what’s out there.
