I need to get a CB setup, all i know is I want the handheld cobra setup. Can someone give me more info on it and everything I need for install? (wires,cables, mounts, ant. etc) whats best to buy and where.

well as I had told you I have the Cobra 75 wxst ( Ithink thats right) it's the all in 1 hand unit it comes will all you need for hook up

now for antenna I have a Firestik II tunable 4ft which I orderd from Bells CB in florida authorized Firestick dealer they have everything you'll need for that coax,mounts etc.

my mount I orderd from Arizona rocky road it was like $30 I believe but they send you the Fire wire coax cable which I think is junk I had a real hard time getting my antenna to tune with that stuff so I switched to the coax you screw into the bottom of the antenna

just make sure you get the antenna tuned before you use it if not you risk blowing up the CB itself

At least 18 feet, don't worry it sounds long, but depending on where you put your antenna ( mine is on my spare tire) you won't have too much excess

shouldnt be bad right? considering on the trail we wont be that far away?

this will be like 100 cheaper and no work to install/test

I would think you'd be alright with it it does pick up 40 channels & we use the real low end & right we're only a few feet apart

You can put on an aux antenna on this one.

I have a handheld from radio shack that looks about the same. I use an aux antenna when I need it. I can pick up people around a mile ro so away. :wink:

I see that this thread has been inactive for awhile, but...
You might actually want to invest in a more powerful unit, if you venture out into the woods on your own from time to time. This will allow you to talk to the ranger stations in the area should there be a problem, and you could also give them heads-ups on trail conditions that they might not know about (they really appreciate this). A more powerful unit would also allow you to grab the Wx bands when you're out in the woods, which is always a good thing to have in the northeast, especially if you're driving up a "dry" riverbed and there could be rain in the area :cry:

well I just picked up a cobra 75 wx st, and also just ordered a 4 ft white firestick 2, 18 foot of coax and a firestick quick disco mount.

I am heading outside now to make my own spare tire ant. mount (llike the arizona rocky mount)
