Was there for a few days last spring but not enough to look around very well. We are looking at maybe a move, since my wife has been offered a position in Hanover. From what I see housing is expensive or more than what we pay here! Taxes, vehicle registration, etc basically whats it cost to live there or in that area. Are there areas outside of Hanover 15/20 miles that are nice?
Just looking for info, from someone who lives in the area. I guess good and bad points to living in that area before she says yes to them.

Thanks for any and all responses

Tom

I have family and friends that live around that area. It's not too bad. A little cheaper than Southern New Hampshire.
If you do get a place up there be careful of the View Tax. It can be pretty bad. And it's just some guy that comes up and says that's a nice view of the lake, mountains, etc. We're going to tax you more because of it.

Hanover is an Ivy League college town. It's a very nice area but housing is pricey due to the number of professionals living in the area. Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and the college are the two big employers. If you look outside the immediate area you will find cheaper housing.

Thanks for all the responses, the reason for the possible move is for my wife to teach at that "Ivy League College" They have been after her for a year now, but theres still some things to work out.
