| Post subject: | Fresno/Shaver Lakes Area -- Next Weekend |
My wife and I are planning a camping/fourwheeling trip next weekend in this area (Area 8 in the Charles Wells book). Anyone else interested? Have not seen any trail write-ups in the NorCal forum, so I'm not sure what the situation is on "KJ compatibility" as far as difficulty. Strawberry Lake and Bald Mountain look like a couple scenic and "doable" trails. |

We ran Strawberry a while ago, not too tough but I would not go alone in a KJ. Never heard of the Bald Mountain trail. Here is the Strawberry stuff: http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... hp?t=34467 |

http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... hp?t=34467 I think he's refering to the Strawberry Lake trail, near shaver lake. I ran this trail earlier this year, is is doable but pretty rough. No major obstacles. Bald Mt. is a great Lib. trail and very scenic. Brewer Lake is also a Liberty trail and very nice. Another great trail is Bear Lake up by Edison Lake - it's easy 4wd. The paved road to Edison Lake is just as nice as doing a 4x4 back road. |

Yep MKJeepers -- you got the right Strawberry. But based on your assessment, Bald Mountain is where I'm leaning now. So how 'bout it -- anyone else interested? |

Consider the Brewer Lake trail - very nice plus it has a little challenge. It's only about 3 or so miles from Bald Mt. |
