Post subject:  Gauge installation

Any of ya'll ever install a set of gauges? How difficult is it? I have an altmeter and oil pressure gauge to install and I am about as electronically lost as a cave man in a Radio Shack. Guess I really need to know where the sending units are so I can tap into them with the new gauges. I'm sure it's not that easy....

Chemguy,

Do you mean altimeter ??? For measuring altitude? (no sending unit needed)

Or you talkin about a voltage meter?

No reply on the roof rack thing, I'll probably go with a cheap Surco.

I've not installed any, but I'll check the service manual and see if I can get you some more info.

Yeah, I meant voltmeter. As for the rack, we can make another one, but it would take some patience and a couple days for those willing to pitch in

The oil pressure sensor/sending unit is located right next to the oil filter. There should be a connector attached to it.

And I couldn't find anything on the voltmeter. Hope I was able to help.

Hmmm.... Voltmeter probably runs a line directly to the battery for true Voltage? Maybe it has a remote turnon wire to connect to an ignition line so it turns on and off? Or you can always toss in an relay tied to an ignition line...

Never seen one, just conjecturing...

No instructions, just some wires LOL.
