Open to anyone in a FOUR-WHEEL-DRIVE (NOT AWD) vehicle, no matter how stock your rig is.
The ride will last most of the day, bring lunch, non-alcoholic drinks, snacks.
Vehicles must be licenced and insured with seatbelts for all passengers (we ride on legal Ohio roads, all Ohio laws are in affect)
Vehicles need to be in good working order, we don't want to spend all day fixing a rig.
Tow hooks are highly recommended.
Ohio 4x4 bears no responsiblity for injuries, vehicle breakdowns, dents, scratches, getting dirty, smelly, or how ugly Roy's truck is.
There's no charge for attending the Novice Ride. The idea is for folks to come out & decide if they like offroading generally, and our club specifically.
A CB is reccommened for communication on the trail with trail leaders, other riders and for spotting.
Per club rules; drivers must be 18 or older, passengers can be any age, but everyone must have a seatbelt.

We are meeting at 9:00. Leaving for the trails at 9:30, if you not there and ready to go at 9:30 you may be left behind.

There is a registration form/liability waiver you must fill out before the ride. For this reason, DON'T BE LATE. No form, no ride. Sorry, but that's life in these United States of Litigation.

You may join the club at the ride. See our Treasurer, Norm.

Norm will have club stickers for $3 each. Both inside & outside are available. He may also have club t-shirts and/or ballcaps -- you'll have to ask him for prices on those.

STOCK VEHICLES ARE WELCOME We would *really* like for you to have towhooks/recovery points, but won't turn you away if you don't.

Full-size trucks are basically guaranteed custom Ohio pinstriping from the trees/shrubs, and may incur body damage. If you're OK with that, so are we. Not saying Jeeps and other smaller vehicles [b]won'tp/b] incur damage/pinstriping, but full-sizes... Well, just take a look at Buford, and you'll see what I mean.

We won't actually be riding on State land (either forest or park), so no worries there.

There is no charge for the ride. We would gladly accept donations on behalf of OMTA's legal defense fund. However, Ohio 4x4 Trailriders, Inc. is not a 501(c)93) organization and any such donations aren't going to be tax-deductible. OMTA itself may be a 501(c)(3) org, but you'd need to make your donation directly to them if this is a factor for you.

It's recommended to fill up in Chilicothe or Circleville on your way in. If you do this, it's HIHGLY unlikely you will need gas on the trail. There is a small gas station/convenience store near the meeting point. It is USUALLY open when we are there, but bear in mind it's a "mom & pop" operation, so no promises.

THERE IS NO CELL PHONE COVERAGE ON THE TRAILS. I couldn't use my Verizon phone even from the little gas station. Plan on being completely unavailable, unless you have a satellite phone.

We bill this as an "all day event." That said, there are usually opportunities every couple of hours to get back on pavement, so if you only want to ride until, say, noon, we can work that out.

While there is ALWAYS potential for damage (and we want to be sure you know that), the Novice ride is designed to let people get their feet wet without getting in over their heads.

We will break up into multiple groups; typically 1 for stock vehicles/inexperienced drivers, a couple groups for mildly built vehicles, and one for better built vehicles/experienced drivers. There will be challenges for each. There are smaller rocky sections, some off-camber stuff, and some mudholes. There are some "optional" obstacles for those looking for a bit more of a challenge, but keep in mind that this is a novice-level ride, and we invite folks in completely stock vehicles with street tires to come along.

We will start off listening to CB channel 4, but each group (there will probably be four groups) will be on a different channel. And 2-way radios don't have much range down in the hills.

I am still on the fence as to coming down or not had to be down that way last weekend for a reunion so 2 weeks in a row??? Plus with getting the wife ready to move to Boston may be too much going on. What time are you all leaving from Dayton? Of course from here Iwould be closer going trough Columbus but thought about meeting somewhere.
