great pictures, now I really feel bad     trails looked great again, like the picture of Mitch leaning on the front bumper, thats one for his wall!
Looks like Jon really tried out his rails this time, and by the way the lights look great on there.
Have fun tomorrow, with ya in spirit !
The most wheeling I have gotten to do was through the hotel parking lot to meet Chris!

Tom, if it makes you feel any better I saw Jon in a chance meeting at Arby's last night. I about pooped myself when I saw a lifted and armored KJ sitting in the lot...

BTW, Jon, did you post those pictures from your phone, or did you get home already?

Looks like you all are having a good time! Glad modular didnt get any damage since he doesnt have rocker rails. I ran that trail once without them and did ok but they are great insurance! :)

Gettin alittle tipsy there jon?

Where is this creek crossing and such? Got a map? I need to check that out when I get bored next weekend.

So which way did you go at the "diff breaker" spot? straight or right-then-left?

I think this weekend was a very good recon run, actually. We learned a couple things. First, the Cromer’s Ridge route (behind the 49er) that we always run is still open to our STREET LEGAL/LICENSED Jeeps. The entire route is nothing more than a drive down Falls City Rd. Second, there are couple other PUBLIC roads through DBNF outside of the city Livingston. This is where are the creek pictures are.
Unfortunately today we had to turn around before we were willing. The creek got very deep and the only way around it was between two trees that we no wider than the Jeep’s mirrors. We could have continued, but without knowing what the next 300 yards looked like, we decided to turn around and save it for the next trip.
We could bring tents and camp along the roads in the forest and really spend some time back there. Unfortunately, each time we explore this particular area, our time has been limited.

Here are my pics:

ok, MAP TIME!!!
first of all, i have this all in garmin map source software on my computer. if anyone has map source and wants this info, just let me know and i'll figure out how to get it to you! :D

CROMER RIDGE:
this is Rockcastle River Forestry Rd. this is the gravel road that branches off early and goes down to the river and stops. i only went about halfway down this road, so its about twice as long as the track in this image shows
Image

here is Falls City Rd. this is the normal route with the steps and the chute and the cave and all that goodness.
Image

OUT IN THE STICKS SOMEWHERE:
this shows the route that we took to get from London (exit 42?) , up to those trails and then back up the Renfro Valley where the Days in was (exit 62). its a pretty crazy route to get there, so if anyone is planning on making the trip (blake), pm myself or meh_kick for some detailed directions.
Image

this map shows what we did in the afternoon on saturday. the road comes in from the south from rt.89 then splits. the right fork is Horse Lick Creek Rd. which is the one we took back in Oct. The track here has us going to the first creek crossing. The left fork is the road we on Sunday.
Image

this is the road we took sunday. this starts as White Oak Branch Rd. and becomes Hickory Flat Rd. Its can be pretty tough to follow this one because part of it seems to just follow the creek, and by follow the creek, i mean follow IN THE CREEK. the road is also pretty narrow at times, so you can expect a good deal of pinstriping. we turned around because of time mostly. we came to a part that had two options. one was a crossing that was too deep. the other involved squeezing between two trees that were very very close together.
Image

this is a zoomed out view of those two trails. here you can see that on either one we still had a pretty good distance to travel before we came to another road. so, either of these roads deserve a full day to complete, if they can even be completed.
Image

my topo map shows the creeks and of course the topography which is really nice, but not the road names of these tiny roads, which is kind of annoying. it just calls them "road"....

pin-striping=

I think I can find Hickory Flat no problem with the GPS.

I wish my Delorme GPS had maps that nice. Either it sucks or I dont know how to use it b/c I cannot get it to save a route for the life of me. :? You even put alittle tent on yours! 8)

Yeah, I thought you might get a little upset about the stripes! I'm serious, its really narrow.

On Map Source you can make a waypoint a ton of different icons. I'm not sure if i can do that on the actual GPS unit or not, but its a breeze once you download the stuff to the computer.

What I find really inspiring about all 3 of these routes we took is that they are just public roads. Normal, old, township roads or whatever. They come up in google maps just like any other road. What that means to me is that out of the JAZILLIONS of roads out there, there could be many more cool ones just like that! :D Just have to ask some of the locals i guess. Just dont drive up to their houses with out of state plates, or you'll get shot! (according to the Days Inn Receptionist)

Hahaha, thats awesome. I wouldnt doubt that one bit though. Ive been ran off before and I have ky plates.

I was stalked the other day at the car wash b/c I gave a guy a strange look for tail gating me. He drove around the car wash just staring at me the entire time I was there. Some people are crazy around here... :?

How about that Nascar. If I buckle up does that mean I can drive 200mph?
