Agreed with Miah. Definately the companionship is awesome as suggested but to travel a far distance to just go on dirt roads with no places of "interesting and challenging" parts is boring. Not knocking anything, just want to do some fun stuff other than just down a dirt trail if ya know what I mean.

Still not sure yet but I can hope.

Agree also. IMHO cruising Gratiot would be similar to the dirt roads 6-7hrs away. If I was from that area I would though!!

I also did set-up a meet and greet on this forum and only 2 people showed up.

If you want something interesting, how come you don't come out to the Badlands with us then?

From the Metro Area this is only 3 1/2 hours away

One way. Thats two full tanks of gas to make the trip that$90 in gas for something I can drive 15 miles to see.

But if I was local to Carrieville I'd be there hands down. Which reminds me, where do you hail from?

I just re-read all the posting in this thread and there is no real confirmation that anyone is going. Someone should start a list of attending so here it is:

As for fuel cost, we are down to $2.299/gallon here (unleaded) so maybe the best time to do runs is the fall and winter when prices are lower...

A month ago unleaded was $3.199/gallon (of course for me, diesel still is )

Oh yeah, there are 2 very important things that also need to be accomplished before I can do anything wheeling and with a little luck, it may finally be accomplished by Saturday...let`s hope.

Also, I don`t think we got a confirmation on type of trails. If they are like the area up by West Branch (St. Helens) where the MichiganJeepers have their pig gig, then that would be cool. There are easy sand trails but there is a nice huge hill to get up as well as a few smaller ones and then you have the huge sand dunes hill to play on.

I think half of the fun of getting together no matter where it is , is for well just to meet and get to know one another. I dont really care if it is so called "hard core" or just a couple of days of cruising some back roads that I have never been before. Its all fun just getting out there with others who enjoy the same things. As for me I have wheeled since the mid 70s and have had to dig for hours to get out of places that no one should of ever tried to go through. So any trails I can do. As far as this trip, even if it is just a roll through the woods we can still make it fun. If I get out of Boston in one piece this weekend I may be game. Keep the planning going!

OMG. Just because I work during the morning on the weekends!! Bastardo!! I will gladly go if its after 3PM on Saturday or anytime after 12PM on Sundays.

I've ran with Miah and we have hit up the Hamlin/Dequindre area and Fairchild spots. However, I don't think the Macomb Sherriff's like anyone at the Fairchild spot so I would prefer Hamlin (and its more open and better for camera shots!).

You are correct on the trails, they are mostly sand based, The north loop is twisty and wooded, the south loop is more open (all ready logged out) but has some hills.
