Midwest Chapter
- Illinois Council
- Indiana Council
- Ohio Council
- Wisconsin Council
- Michigan Council

Each council would be responsible for local events / get togethers (this could also be used to boost membership and get more kjers into the forums).

The Midwest Chapter then would be headed by a president (who would be a chairman of one of the councils) as well as a vp and a chapter treasurer (in charge of $ for the chapter for midwest gear/large (multiple state) get togethers).

There could be a 'roundtable' get together every month/2 months between all council chairmen and the pres/vp/treasurer of midwest chapter to touch base on various issues.

Other notes...

-Forums would stay the same with all councils using the LOST Midwest Board.
-Each council could have its own website with state specific information and membership information

tried to get that back in 2004, never went anywhere at all. maybe will work now. No ones really interested in the site as it is now so we are just trying to get some things going in a positive way!

The forum for the midwest section has seemed to work for planning trail rides in ohio, IMO.
Plus on all of the runs that I have been involved in, there is always someone who is from a different state and perhaps it would actually cut down on attendance....

I dont think it would ever be that we could not cross state lines to go to various things, but then look at the area that Midwest covers, too large of an area to do anything at all with everyone. We would still or could maybe stay under the MIDWEST Banner but be just Ohio.
Also to grow, we need to bring in new people no matter what type of Jeep they drive. I know I have talked to a lot of people since 2004 and some have came on but left telling me " we are not in to muddin every weekend" wouldnt mind getting together to talk Jeeps , go to benefit runs/ shows whatever. But we need those people and gettting down to one or two states we would be able to do more things together I think.
This idea has been talked about with several on here for quite a while now although I am the main one on here most times. Look over some of the other areas, they are smaller and are changing the way they are doing things, having meetings, voting for offices etc. we need to move ahead and now is the time.

IMO...I for one like what Callaway has suggested. I'm not sure about the past organization of the Midwest group because frankly I haven't been here that long...but people do need to realize that the Midwest section covers a big area like Tom said and there are more active members willing to do more activities these days. Ohio is a big area and there are many guys that are getting together.

The trend I'm seeing in the Midwest section as far as activities/runs go is:

1. Chicagoland group

2. Indiana/Central-Northern Illinois/Michigan group (usually goes to the Badlands)

3. "Livingston Group" (primarily went to Livingston)- consists primarily of the Ohio crowd

IMO...These groups shouldn't necessarily split apart and have their own forum (Ohio is a debate in it's own), but each should each have their own council that would be overlooked by the Midwest "officers". Maybe each should even have their own sub-forum inside the Midwest forum? It would be the most effective way to maintain each group and keep the Midwest section organized better.

I'm sure the past/current Midwest officers have felt the strain of organizing such a large area/number of people and keeping everything in check. I've never ran an organization or "common interest" group like this nor do I have ever claimed to so I have no idea what its like. I can only speculate and suggest certain things that would better our group.

I'm not the biggest fan of politics but I guess people should realize they are pretty much everywhere.

So I guess what I've read thus far is:

1) keep the forum as is. focus on lifts, runs and gatherings (current staff may be interested in some new blood to carry this effort)

2) try to resurect the "club" portion via subregions/chapters (Chicagoland, IN-MI-IL, OH, Plains, & WI ?)

3) based on distance, quarterly chapter meetings and an annual "club" meeting/run

This is where I might disagree with you. The process of people getting involved will allow the development of "subregions/chapter" without any organization on the part of anyone. It is just that simple. As more people get involved in a region, there will be more club activity in that region. I am not sure we need to define it first. My home location and driving distance is all the limit me. Defined chapters and subregions will only serve to divide instead of unite. I am greatly encouarged by the proactive involvement across the entire Midwest.

I agree as well. Having officers and dues and stuff are just barriers to getting together and opens up all sorts of liability issues. I'm sure Don and Henry could probably chime in on that.

trail runs, lift parties, charity runs etc are all good. We seem to do a pretty good job of getting the word out on these events without a formal organization. Ussually just need a ring leader to get them started

I guess the midwest is different than other regions from the way some make it sound, others have meetings/ etc, vote in new officers every year, some on here dont want anything just let it run wild :wink:

I'm not sure how to chime in on this one, I haven't met anyone from LOST here in ohio, but I think that I met everyone else except for science guy.... heck I would bet that half of my aftermarket parts are from chi-town (Thanks Don and Andy), but yes, I would like to see something in Ohio that I could take part in, as I am constantly on the road with work, it is difficult to say that I will be a any given meeting at any given time, but I would sure like to have ohio meets, and know where to look for them....... also, I think that ohio has the highest amount of manual trannies on lost.... am I right?

I am a new user to this site. Just bought a KJ and I am interested in getting together as well. I am down near Cincinnati...seems like everyone is north of me. Tom has already been nice enough to offer a helping hand with the "tire clearance lift" I would like to do.

OK STICKING MY NECK OUT ON THE LINE AGAIN!! :lol:

feel like an old rooster thats getting ready to have its head chopped off, BUT

I would like to see MIDWEST LOST stay the same area but with maybe some sub chapters, seems we have 2 major areas right now. Ohio lapping over into Michigan/ Indiana and then Illinois lapping into Indiana/ Michigan. Not trying to split Midwest up, it sort of does it on its own. LOST Admin. had contacted me a few months ago to see what I thought and to see where we wanted it to go, if anywhere.
I like to wheel as much as anyone but have been told that some feel left out due to being stock/ near stock or two wheel drive so would like to get more participation from them no matter if its car shows / cruise ins what ever.
The Fathers Day Jeep Show here in Toledo is a good example with everything there from all out show cars to ragged out 4 wheelers. I guess I am still game to see if anyone wants to do a little bit more in the form of organization or just let it run the way it is. Doesnt matter to me at all.

But Seriously I think it would be cool to have an OH-LOST chapter....
I know there are at least 4-5 dedicated KJ wheelers in OHIO, that won't have a problem doing recon etc.... (how long they keep it up/how long the KJ's keep it up) is another story

As far as the web site portion...
I'm on here about every night anyway, I could help do something! I have every other Sat-Tuesday off and am always bored! Once the KJ is done(hopefully in 2-3 yrs-Locked and Loaded :twisted:

, and have another daily driver) I plan to do go Off roading ALL THE TIME!!!!
