Spring run at DBNF?

Jon, I don't know if I could agree with that. To me stock is right off the dealer lot with the standard GSA's, no armour or the basic mopar 3 piece armour and no lift. IMO, once you require full skids and rails, your vehicle is no longer stock.

how about those of us who are lifted with only the front skid and no rock rails?

I'd be up for the trip depending on when it is, and on what day of the week.

oh, i totally agree with you. that is indeed the meaning of stock. i'm just saying that, to be safe, thats the stuff you should probably have to drive that road. however, last time (? i think) one of the participants did not have skids or rails, but he did have a lift. he got through without any damage, but we all had to be pretty careful when spotting him. and that was with a lift.

my first time there was with stock suspension. i had added skids and rails, and i wouldnt recommend not having those. i was sliding down the steps on my underbelly!

I gotcha Jon, I understand now.

I'm in the process of trying to get rails and an engine/tranny skid. Anything new is 6-8 weeks build time and haven't seen too much in the used section. I like the RL super skinks and the skid row tranny skid. If I go new, figure 8 weeks build, 1 week ship, 1-2 weeks paint and install, I'm thinking Summer will be over by then....

Tbird, I would want to have at least a tranny skid as well if I was you, I did it last time with no rock rails but had to choose my lines a little better acouple of places. we take our time and will help anyone through. Also its a weekend trip, last time we all made it in there Friday afternoon some late evening, then wheeled all day Saturday and Sunday morning, then left for home about 1 or so. Its a great time and kids / families are welcome of course!

No there are plenty of things for a rider to do, take pictures and things like that. Plus if you have never been trail riding its a great way to watch others navigate over rocks etc. Then when you are ready it will make more sense why youre doing what youre doing!

I'll be sure not to ride with you :lol:

I'm in for riding then. I'm flexible on the date. Pretty much anytime I should be able to be there.

You can go STOCK! They have two runs daily (stocked 'n locked... not actually it's stock and lift/aromor).

Meh_Kick, are you going that weekend for a little recon?

Do we actualy have access to the trails? I think we have established that the trails are cool, just getting to them is up in the air.

What weekends are we aiming at for the Spring run?

I too agree about the limited numbers, especially if we have limited access. But if and i do mean IF we can get this going on a regular or semi regular basis then we may try for more drivers and riders. I was just wanting to get as many as possible for the run. I personaly have not had the chance to go, yet. hoping to have my skinks and new rubber/wheels on by then too. all my other armor is already to go.

The route is on the MVUM. So, it's legal to drive on. However, by law you have to stay on the road. Some of the cool obstacles are not technically on the road. Also, we have no idea how they may have bypasses parts since we've been there last. They were smoothing out the road and laying gravel. So, the road is there, and we have access to it, we just have no idea what condition its in. I think some recon is in order.... not by me...

Firstly, I'd want to determine how much of a challenge our original trail is (whether it's been graded and graveled fully).
Secondly, I'd want to see if our Sunday trail is untouched. If so, this is a trail that stockers would have virtually no trouble (at least as far as we got).

Cool guys. I'll have to work on Friday (even though my school district is scheduled off, I have to go in for a staff meeting elsewhere, argghh). So it looks like starting early on Saturday or Sunday (or both if we stay down there) would be my best bet.

Any day would work for me. My wife will be joining me for the trip. I am going to take a extra vacation day for a nice long weekend...we are totally open.

On a side note...I'll be taking my wife to do some lite wheelin' this Sunday. She wants to try her hand at it.

I'd like to go, but need to check the dates first. I dont have any time off for Pres. Day, so most likely I would do a drive down late Friday, stay overnight, wheel saturday and either drive back saturday night or stay overnight and wheel sunday then drive back (like we did last time).

I just noticed that Valentines Day is right before that weekend, so have to check with the wife I think she said something , maybe it was dont want to see you that weekend

If I go will be working a 4 -10 week and leaving Friday like before, and of course with Monday off as well. So whatever works for everyone else.
What was the names of the local hotels close by there?

Tom,
I really like camping. But, if nobody wants to, no big deal! I've stayed at the Sleep Inn in London. Its nothin special but its decent. I think its $75/night.
