nobody in Michigan wheels a Liberty.

if you want more localized websites there are these.

but nobody has a libby that they wheel.

I'm almost in Michigan (7miles south) on the Lake Michigan side of the state though. If you guys get something going next month, I'll try and get over that way, but my Libby is still stock & my DD so I'll have to watch where I take it till I can add some skids.

About two to three times a mouth. Then what do you mean when you say wheel'en. Off roading here in the UP can be a every day event. Going to work I can take the hi-way or the back two track roads.

FWIW, I have a friend that just moved to Niles, so I have a place to crash there to wheel in SW MI.

My mother-in-law has a condo in St Ignace, so I can always stay there and go wheelin' yooper style as well

Mine's a DD too. So far so good. Little trail pinstriping, but I guess it's going to get scratched by wheeling, or by the cart at the grocery store - might as well have fun. I fully think that skids are a necessity with our lack of ground clearance. I was smacking mine quite a bit this last time out....in fact, the two times I got stuck the front end was at almost full droop from resting on the skids. About 50% of the engine skid's paint is gone after mudding in the pics above. Lots of scraping.

Depends on what you mean by anything.... You looking for some wheeling spots? I am too. Any suggestions? Me and some of my jeep family members are talking about going to the mounds in flint in a couple weeks. Like maybe the 6th. I also want to hit silverlake befor it closes. Chris

I take my libby out all the time and wheel it. all i have is some skid plates and a little bigger tires. no lift. no cool rack. no sliders. who cares. i have plenty of michigan pinstriping to prove it. i usually wheel in st.helen when i go hunting. the mounds are cool too. if anyone ever wants to wheel sometime let me know and i'll see if i can make it.

Hey guys, new on here. I'm in Sterling Heights. Was just up at The Mounds 2 weeks ago. I've also headed up to the state trails by the St Helens area in September. I have a buddy with a TJ, and him and some of his Chrysler co-workers (mostly JK's) seem to head out once a month or so. I plan on doing the same. Maybe we can meet up for one in the spring/summer so I am not the only KJ there. JK guys were impressed with this last Mounds trip - KJ hung in well - and I have the stock SR-A's. Took $8 at the Almont car wash to get most of the mud off:

No "Off Road Parks" in the UP. Just drive down any paved road. look to ether side, see a dirt road and go a find out were it goes. I love it up here. If is sounds like I'm bragging about the UP it is because I am I now there is a hole lot of GREAT other places in this good U.S. of A to wheel and I hope to see some of them. I've been wheel'en in CO. WY. AK (you want to talk about REMOTE wheel'en! Winter Wheel'en, you better be packing the right stuff wheel'en Oh my good your stuck, engine is dead, -65' outside we are going to DYE wheel'en, AK is the place, and NM. All grat places to wheel.

Being that my Libby has no skids or lift yet, I'd say two tracks in the woods filled with mud and/or snow covered (couple of feet) would be fun. Not going to try rock crawling until I can afford to fix what I break.

Just wanted to say hello...My wife's Jeep is a 2005 Liberty Renegade Rocky Mountain Edition. This version has some upgrades which are "standard" like a sunroof and "Jeep" embroidered front seats but it's missing front tow hooks and doesn't have the pocket fenders. I wanted the full-blown Renegade but my wife thought it looked too off-road "extreme" for her. I want to see if I can install front tow hooks without having to make too many bumper/facia modifications. Also, still have the stock tires on it and just can't wait to put on some tires with more aggressive tread pattern. I think I may buy new tires before year-end. Just FYI...I'm a member over on Southwest Michigan Jeepers (www.swmjeepers.com) and they've gone to a place called Kids in the Mudd Extreme Farm in Hamilton Township in Van Buren county in the recent past to wheel but unfortunately, the place is stuck in legal battle with the township accusing them of improper land-use based on the zoning. Looks like the judge is going to rule in favor of the township so that may be, yet, one more place those of us in Lower Michigan will not be able to use to satisfy our wheelin' fix. I'd really like to just go through some Forest Service Roads in the Huron-Manistee National Forest area but would prefer to not do it alone. I just seems inevitable you're likely to get stuck wheelin' so may as well do it with friends to make for a more productive day rather than waiting for hours to find someone to help tow you free if necessary. Really liked seeing the photos of Drummund Island...looks great! Also, hearing of U.P. wheelin'...I've been up near Blaney Park and Newberry area as well as up near Grand Marais...so many two-track roads just leaving the paved road...The last time I was up there I had a Chevy Beretta of all vehicles to explore those roads. I so wish I'd had a Jeep back then. Went past Ted Nugents' farm/cabin along one of those roads near Blaney Park...so cool to be alone in "wilderness" like that. Can only imagine what it's like in West U.P. I wish we could convince our state government that off-road tourism would certainly help our state since our manufacturing "glory days" appear to be in our past now. If the state government put themselves behind a state-wide OHV trail system and promoted it, I'm convinced people would flock to "recreation state" and we'd all be the better for it. I keep telling my wife I'm going to organize a Jeep rally to drive to Lansing and get our opinion heard by those that make our laws. Sorry...just thinking aloud to fellow Michiganders. Niles is close to my area, I'm about 35 miles from there, I go there alot. Not sure where there's places to wheel though. If you guys set something up I'll try and get up there.

Been to the mounds a few times, yet never see any other KJ when i am there. Checking out the michigan jeepers site for local events they tend to have something every weekend.
