You can always ride with someone.

This trail is closer to those Northern folks. Let's get more participants.

How really expired are they? What year is your XJ? Can't be more than $100 to get tagged and emissions is only $40 if you have to do that in your county. My 98 XJ was like $95 for tags. Of course, if no money, then that is understandable. That's why I drove around expired for about 4 months when I moved here.

Marty, sorry for not getting back to you...I was out of town all week. Yep, I'm still good to go. Do we have a meeting time/place?

That's cool. What happened to you last weekend for China Wall?

Meeting place is Starbucks, 0930, Downieville.

I can't beleive there is no close tent camping areas. At least by what I searched on the net and in my tent camping book. Nothing real close. I think Golden Gate Canyon is the closest to Spring Creek.

It's not the money, it is the 35's that are giving me head aches. I have not had the time to change them and go the the emmissions place, and change them back so my liberty is driveable.

I see, well hopefully we can get you back on the trails. Too bad you couldn't meet us at the trailhead and ride with someone. Matt from TNT Customs has some neat XJ stuff to check out, and if you haven't done spring creek, it would give you a good idea what's up there.

We'll take plenty of pictures for everyone. :D

Same deal. I just had way too much to get done before leaving town for a week.

WOW! What a hard trail that a couple of us couldn't complete. Only one person made it through everything and that was Ted (USAFCOP). He made it through obstacle #1 in which Marty tried but gave up. Then Obstacle #3 was a bit too much for Joel and me (especially since Joel suffered a minor breakdown but was fixed in a jiffy). We could've made it with the rock stacking but later was told it was a good thing we didn't go up it. The Rock Garden tested Marty's 35" tire XJ and Ted's ARB'd front-rear KJ with great front and rear approach/departure. Joel and I would've destroyed our rear and most likely front bumpers.

More from the rest of the guys and me in the Past Trails write-up soon. Look for it.

Spring Creek is listed as the 4th Hardest trail in Colorado's Vol 1 2nd edition book.

Guaranteed must for the trail (for a KJ) would be full skids (not an OEM tranny skid either), lockers (at least in rear and not LSD's), lift, very good sliders/bars/rails, 31-32" tires, and aftermarket steel front and rear bumpers.

And Balls of steel!!!!

On the Jeep you pervs!!! My Jeep balls got bent and my driveline is producing a nice hum now...

Actually, I think the only thing that got out of that trail without a scrape was the bottom of the floor of the jeep!!! Everything else is bashed or bent! I even bent my front alignment cam washer locator on the subframe!

Oh well, it was fun until Marty and I got really lost...

Haha! I found video of Ted high centered with his rear bumper on the rock, with all four tires spinning.

I'm gonna archive that video of Ted for later distribution. I wish I could have made it but enjoyed my weekend camping at the trail head of Eagle Rock. It kinda sucked that there was a fire ban in place (even with the non-stop rain the whole weekend). Anyway, can't wait to make it out with you guys on the next run (hopefully, something a little less trying).

That is too lame... of course they do not let the video continue or have pictures of just moving the rock behind, then a push off, and good to go... no, just stop at I need a tug... which was wrong to as it took a push backward :P

Looked like a lot of fun guys! I am having the Jeep looked at by the stealership, Medved, next week. After that, the skink sliders will go on, and I'm back on the trail!
