I have an appointment with the dealership next Tuesday to look at my T-Case problem. Just today I heard a very noisy squeaking sound coming from my left driver's side suspension when I was driving, and I suspect ball joint issues. When I slightly pushed the wheel with my foot I reproduced the noise, during which I noticed I can move the top of the tire in and out when I grab it with both my hands (this is bad, isn't it?). I will have the dealership look at both sides of my front suspension and I'm sure they are going to tell me all my ball joints are shot. Even if they aren't, I'm way to scared to drive the Lib without fixing the problem Daimler/Chrysler handed to me. Rest assured, THEY'LL NEVER FIX IT I think the only way I can possible still join you guys on the trails this summer is if this T-Case problem is fixed under warranty (free). Then I have to replace my upper a-arms with Al's A-arms and get the MOOG lower balljoints, and then get Marty's skink sliders. I didn't think I'd be putting $700 into the Jeep this summer! |

You may have bad spindle bearings, they will make funny noises when driving and you can pull the tire back and forth to.So you may not have bad balljoints, but the balljoints are cheaper then the bearings.Hope all goes well so you can wheel instead of hoping you don't have a major breakdown, they really suck. |

Driving 20 or so miles just tonight, the noise disappeared. I'm extremely confused...but one thing is for sure, I'm scared a failure may be near. How would I check my spindle bearings? Are there any obvious signs of malfunction? |

The best way to check those is to take the rotor off and pull on them to see if there is any play in them. Be careful driving that thing if there is alot of play in those balljoints! Raise it up by the frame and stick your lug wrech under the tire. Watch the balljoints for any play while lifting up on the tire, you need to pull purty hard to lift the tire up. |
