Post subject:  To All My Homies Up In The Rockies

I just received word today that as of March 1, I will no longer be employed by JL Audio. The decision before me is, do I renew my lease (renew decision expires tomorrow) and try to stick it out in UT or go back to FL where I have family to help me out.

I know that I can get a quick job at one of my accounts, but that's really a young man's game. I'll keep you updated as to what I decide.

Ted, unfortunately, whatever I do, I am not going to be in CS before your departure. I feel bad about that really. Please take care of yourself (and us) over there.

:( :(

That sucks!
Play the young mans game. Work on your fitness level and you can beat the younguns at that game (mental and physical improvement)...if it is worth it to you.

Just find a job here in Colorado.

On your lease renewal -see if they'll let you do month to month - they'll charge more - but it leaves you some more time to evaluate options
(this is very dependant on the market - if they know they have people waiting - they won't)

wow that stinks.

What happened, not enough clients, or just not enough people buying new stereo stuff?

Oh well. hope you find something better. As for the lease, I have no clue, if you plan to keep her, can you finance the rest of the value into a loan w/a lower payment? Never leased a vehicle (never will) so I do not know what happens at the end other than the turn in and they screw you due to mileage or use fees that were hidden in the contract somewhere.

I would keep the Jeep though, it is a CRD man!

BTW, how is the arm?

The lease I speak of is my apartment lease.

Sometimes you have to let your marquis player go to get under the salary cap.

The Rockies was the #1 growth territory for JL Audio in 2007. However, the rest of the country is covered by independent rep firms. The Rockies was covered by me as a direct employee of the company. JL paid for the Jeep, ins, fuel and lodging. This was on top of my salary, bonus and benefit package. The reality of the thing is it just got too expensive (I did too well) to have me out here. So it really wasn't what happened in my territory, it's what didn't happened in many of the others. Three rep firms were getting fired too.

I do have the option of interviewing with the firm that will take over, but there is a mutual disinterest by both parties. I know that JL is hoping that I will go to work for the firm they are putting in place. Since my marketable skills are very narrow in one industry, I don't think that I will be able to replace my current salary in the real world. My cost of living will be very low if I go back to the FTL and it could give me a chance to train for something more marketable in a new career field. There are many people in FL I can glom off of while I get my learn on.

As far as my arm, today was my first day of physical therapy. I am supposed to go 3x's per week for 4 weeks. Then I see my doctor again for evaluation. What he determines will also ultimately impact the size of lawsuit against the shuttle company. As you know, the PT is the painful part.

The corporate card is still active until March so I think that I might look for a new dealer in MOAB before I might have to go. I'd like to hang around for LOST Safari before I go, but that would be irresponsible (no comment KJ4ME :D )

Before you go... you should swing by Durango and have a beer... could probably wrangle up RkyMtnKJ as well. Maybe do some wheeling down in Farmington for one last hurrah.

I was going to go down to MOAB one last time before I go. It's been snowy here so I'm not sure of trail conditions. I was hoping to go out on Shafer Trail to Musclemans Arch and then a quick drive across the street to Arches NP.

That would be cool. I am going to go down there Friday the 8 or the 15 and spend the weekend. If you want to meet up, just let me know which is best for you.

Well I have both of those weekends off... so either (or both 8) ) would work for me.

Those trails you mentioned... do-able in an unlifted KJ?

Post subject:

Yes. I went on these trails for the first time last year LOST Sarfari. I had bald stock tires and no lift. Do you have skids?

I am going down on the 8th.

I DO have skidss and I'm not afraid to use them haha. Maybe if I get off my lazy booty I can put my CRS rock rails on too.... being lazy sucks.

And I'm good for the 8th... don't have to be back to work until the 11th 8)

I am going down on the 8th Friday and will probably stay until Sunday. How long of a drive is it for you? I am thinking like 3-4 hours? It's cool that I get to hang with someone on my last trip (for a long time), I am glad you're coming out.

Well Joseph,
It was nice to meet you, and you are welcome anytime you want to come back to visit the Rockies.

I am going to try and get out to LOST Safari 09, but I will probably be looking to be a passenger. It was good to meet you too Ted.
And Dave, Marty, Troy and even the anti-social photographer... I guess :D .
All the folks I have wheeled with out here have taught me so much and are high-character individuals. I feel that I have made some good friends so far from home.

I look forward to meeting up with the Florida Jeepers and automatically achieving baller status because I've done so much more that just drive around in mud. :D
