When the new staff went into position, I thought that MA Lost was going to take more of a "Club" feel and less of a bunch of people meeting up to do trails. I thought the whole thing was about "We have great things in store, just you wait" We are going to have more rides, more meet and greets, more things like Toys for Tots and help Clean up the offroad parks."

What happened to all that enthusiasm? I was hoping for things to "happen"

What? Back in January we are told about State Reps and bylaws and how we are going to be a real club. Have you checked the calendar? It's August.

Obviously meetings on Wednesday nights are TOUGH to make for a lot of people. It has been suggested many times to CHANGE them. But nobody with the power to change them will do it. Heck, the officers don't even make them. Great "club" we have going.

WOW all of this from Al and mine simple posts.

Sandie you are right. Al and I both know that we have to pull our heads out of our 3 points of contact and get things done right. Since we are in contact with each other everyday we will try to get some more things started. So to start with there will be a M & G next month. Any one up for putt putt or bowling.

WOW! I disappear for a week, and it all hits the fan.

Personally I don't think splitting us up is going to make things better. Someone had mentioned splitting PA and putting west in MW and east in NE. Well I live in the West PA and I have looked at things that are going on in the MW chapter, but all of their rides and such are on the other side of OH. This would IMO alienate Western PA right away.

I like the idea of sub-chapters under MA LOST. There aren't many places to wheel in PA, as it is. There is PAP and Rausch Creek...Other than those places (which I haven't been to since gas + "membership" + entrance Fees have put those places on the back burner for me). I went wheelin' yesterday with a couple local people, and had a great time. I would love to have you guys come up and play in my neck of the woods, but none of the places that I go to up here are 100% legal. Granted that people go there, and are not bothered by anyone for being there, but as a club, I would not want to go and end up that that trip be the first time the cops or whomever show up passing out $300 tickets...

That being said, I think the biggest hurdle is that we all drive gas guzzlers (no comments from the peanut gallery CRD owners  ) and it is a huge distance and $$$ for me to go all the way down to York or further south for just a M&G.

Also, I posted about Jeepfest coming up both here and MW since it's close to the OH border, and got almost no replies to the thread where anyone want's to go. I know there are a bunch of people in Western Pa on this board that never showed any interest. This place was where I first introduced to some of the people MA LOST, including Al, Tammy and her family, and they came from NJ/Eastern PA. Do you think splitting up the chapter is going to make more people come to this or any other event? I don't, but at least there are more choices now as the area is big and people can go where and when they chose to.

edited for clarity

I wanted to go to Jeepfest but the gas alone would be a killer, so I can see where you are comming from.

I understand, and I'm not faulting you or anyone for not coming, especially with gas prices, but there still is a bit of frustration there...

I was using that as an example of how splitting up PA and moving western PA into MW would do no good, and possibly some harm...

My $2 from my experiences with all the great folk of MA when I lived in Virginia and was VP.

Al and Chris are two of the most respected and worthy of their positions. I know there are several more in MA that would be worthy, but these two are a great team and great friends. And like Chris said, they just need to get on the ball a little more.

Al, what can I say that is worthy of words. He is a great man and leader that I respect fully. He is a class act. He is willing to help you whenever possible, sacrifices his time for any member if he can, and just...well, that just goes to show you how great a person he is. It`s beyond mere words. MA is VERY lucky to not only have him, but have him as your Pres.

Chris is a great guy and I respect him immensely as well. The thing I love most about Chris is you know where you stand with him. He`s not afraid to tell it like it is. And honestly, some people need that. Chris knows his stuff and I trust him wholeheartedly. He is an honest and caring person. Again, MA is VERY lucky to have him as well.

As for splitting up, the one point from several members has summed it up. Not enough active people to break it up. Reading through these posts (from the beginning, not after deletion & editing) one person, raceinfan, said exactly what I was thinking. Have a North/South of MA. Trying to get 1-3 people from each state to constantly be active as reps is too much IMO. Having 1-2 MA North and 1-2 MA South reps would be much, much easier to do. Again, just my opinion.

On the "wheeling" subject, L.O.S.T. is a mainly "wheeling" club. If you don`t like what this club has to offer, then you are always welcome to go to other clubs or form your own club. That is said with complete respect and no ill will to anyone. L.O.S.T. was started by wheelers and that is the main theme of this club.

Now, with that said, L.O.S.T. has always welcomed ALL KJ`s and members. Stock or modded, and even those that will never see the light of day on a dirt road or trail. L.O.S.T. loves to have everyone, but just don`t try to change the way things are run because it doesn`t fulfill what you want. MA L.O.S.T has always welcomed everyone and there are events that are non-wheeling for those that want to be part of the group but not do the wheeling. There are Meet and Greets, Jeep events where you can enjoy other jeeps/people and even enter in contests where several MA`ers have won awards, etc. There is something for everyone!

One other thing that really needs pointing out is for all members to get involved more! Show up to an event, make every monthly meeting when possible (mark it on the calendar if you always forget), make the Meet and Greets and other non-wheeling events, etc. If YOU want the club to be successful, YOU need to do your part. Yes, there times when you can`t make something which is fully understandable, but there are ways and times where you can do something for the club. The MEMBERS need to step up to the plate as well, not just the officers.

Mike
