Wow!

Did I have a blast for the first 1/2 of the day. Thanks to "yous guys" for putting up with my rock crawling and letting me off the hook for leaving early. I wish I could have stayed, but ..... I would have liked to see that tree jump out in front of Chris. Chris if you are coming up for the lift install, we will take care of that skid!

I can't wait to see the pictures!

Thanks again to you all, for the fellowship and time on the trail this past weekend. I look forward to seeing you on Dec. 3rd.

Al

Sounds like a fin time, now where are the pictures so we can be jealous we weren't able to go because of 35 screaming 16 year olds. <shudder>

It was definately a blast! It was good to wheel with Chris, David, Sharon, Al, and Jason. Jason, for being the only unlifted KJ in the group, you did great and Sharon, for your first time out, you did awesome as well!

It was the 6 of us KJ`s and it turned out as reported by Joe that BMJA was having there Turkey Run (and as we saw near the end of the day a huge group of Hummers were there as well) so we did see a little bit of traffic but overall it wasn`t too bad. The main place you mostly saw most vehicles was on the main roads and Turtle.

Since we only had one unlifted KJ (Jason), we decided to do some higher Greens. Jason had full skids so everything was ok. When we started, we get a call on the CB from Chris "Uh, I can`t believe I forgot to do this...I forgot to gas up at the gas station.". "Uh...how much do you have?" "A quarter tank..." DOH! Good thing we just got onto the main road from the staging area...

So as Chris went to get gas, we decided to do Trail 25 which is a Green 3 and is near the front entrance so Chris could get right back to us at the exit. This trail has got rougher since I was last on it. It is a fun trail and alot longer than I remembered. At the first big obstacle (there was a go around for those that didn`t want to do it), Al and I chose to go at it. There was a boulder in the way of one part that wasn`t there before (I checked my pics from a past run to verify), so I had to back up and take a different route. After some great spotting and help from Al & company, I got through it. Al went after me and made it through too.

During this, Chris was already at the end of the trail waiting for us. I told Chris to just come up the trail as there was nobody else on it. We meet up with Chris and Al, upon seeing something that lit up his eyes, decides he wants to go play on some "Black Trail" Rocks. Man, the drop on one of those... After some help on spotting from us, he finally made it. Man, that was cool to see.

By that time it was already lunchtime (wow, did time fly or what?) and the ladies needed a bathroom break (and since we were right near the front), we went up to the office area and had our lunchbreak there. Al wasn`t feeling so great (read the last Nascar trials were on TV but he wouldn`t admit it to us so he feigned not feeling well :P ), so he left for the day! Hi Al!

After that, we decided to go around to the other side of the park and swing and go up Turtle. The park now closes at 4, so not a whole lot of time left in the day. On the way, Chris, David, and I went up the one side of the hill going up for a short challenge. We all made it as you`ll see the cool pics. This is where we encountered that rare species of tree that can physically jump into your way (or Chris backed into it to get up over a big rock in the way - whichever version you think is the truth...).

We got to Turtle and started going up when we stopped momentarily for David to check out why a bit of smoke/steam came out from under his hood while the gauge was ok. A small group of vehicles came up behind us, so I waved them on not wanting to hold things up. It turns out this group had a red TJ driven by a cute girl and her boyfriend that was having it`s share of getting stuck... At one spot, her boyfriend had to get out and drive because she couldn`t make it through.

They finally got going and we saw a Hummer group behind us. We weren`t going to wait for that, so we decided to get going. David started getting near overheating so we had to watch that. We got through Turtle with a few times for spotting some people through but no one got stuck, it was just all in the line chosen. Jason did great for having no lift and stock tires! Sharon also did superb here.

We got to the play area by 3pm and Jason had to leave. The rest of us played around the play area with me, Chris and David doing the "big hill" several times with no problems. The Hummer group was here and we were shocked to see a bunch of them getting down and dirty flying through mud although there were 2 that had some plastic stuff on the sides in hopes of not getting trail scratches... Most of the Hummers went up the same big hill with no problems although one did get stuck near the top and had to get strapped and one other couldn`t make it halfway for whatever reason.

All in all it was a blast. Although we didn`t get to cover as many trails as we wanted since we took too long playing around on some obstacles, it was a great day. Some of the trails have gotten a little rougher, but nothing we couldn`t handle. I look forward to the next run and even more trails. I hope to see everyone out there!

Mike

p.s. Check my pics out and, as always, feel free to check the other pics as well.

p.s.s. Just to stress to those out there that in the pics where Al, me, Chris, and/or David were going on the "rough stuff", there was either a go around or it was off a main trail. :)
