The idea behind the M&G is so that any and all can attend. The monthly runs are for the peps that like to wheel and it gives us a set time to get out and handle our bussiness.

VA Beach. :D

If we do it after Labor Day weekend, the hotels will all be pretty low-priced and the water's still warm.

There has never (that I can remember) been a M&G in the southern part of the territory. I understand that most folks in this section live north of DC, but if its held towards the southern end of the territory, some of the Carolina folks might be able to attend too. Just an idea.

I think the best we can do is to put it in Northern VA. But last time we did that only 5 people where there.

When do they round the ponies up at Assitigue in Maryland? We could ride the beach, see the ponies and bar-b-que on the beach?!

My two cents!

Going to the pony beaches on Chincoteague or Assateague would be pretty cool! The actual swim is in July on a Wednesday though, so I don't think that's a good time to meet & greet. Besides...

Quote:
During the pony swim, approx. 40,000 visitors wait along the extremely over crowded shoreline for the wild ponies to reach the shore. The swim only lasts about 3 minutes. Some people say that the best way for you to experience the wild ponies of Assateague Island is to go any other time during the year, either before or after the swim.

That'd be cool to meet & greet somewhere along the Eastern Shore. And it might be close enough for some Carolina LOSTers to join (although they'll have to pay $12 to get across the biiiiiIIIIIIIIiiiiig bridge, but it'd be worth it).

I can't do Labor Day weekend though. That's already booked for a canoe trip along the James. Sorry. Besides, VA Beach will be PACKED that weekend (that's why the locals tend to plan things AWAY from here). It's after Labor Day weekend that the hotel rates plummet and street parking becomes free and we can start taking our dogs on the beach during the day. Post Labor Day is a GREAT time to be in VA Beach.

Another problem with that Assateague idea is that everybody coming would have to buy a beach driving permit and I think there is a limit to how many they issue at a time.

Why not set the M&G in October. We could tie it in with the 3rd Annual OBX Beach run? I would love to see some PA members join in. If any of you think you could make it your welcome to make a pit stop in Richmond and take a break while I pack my stuff up and we head on down from there?

There has been a lot of hype for the VA Beach M&G so we might try to do this for Aug or Sept. As far as OBX that may be a little far. Can we get some more ideas?

Well, I'm still partial to the VA Beach idea...;-)

...but, Washinton, D.C. would be a cool place for a bunch of LIBERTIES to gather. What about a big barbeque picnic at Great Falls Park, then a run up to the Capitol?

Or Manassass...lots of nice parks there.

Or a meeting in Philly would be cool too. Lots of great parks there to gather.

Just brain-storming. I still vote for VA Beach. :-)
