Post subject:  South VA Wheelin

So I am new to the area, been in Va for about 10 days, hopefully will have a house under contract as of Wed, I check into my new command on 15 Aug to be sent out into the great big ocean.

So I am looking to get some wheelin in on Thurs or Fri. 1. anybody up for it? or maybe a small local meet and greet? 2. if not where is a good place decently close 50 mile range of Chesapeake, VA Beach?

Thanks

I cant think of anything that is within a 50 mile radius of Chesapeak. If you want to make the treck, GWNF (Geore Washington National Forest) is not bad to wheel at. I think that is a 3 hour drive for you. If your looking to meet up or install something, let me know cause dog_party, Ugg, and myself will be more than willing to help ya out.

Welcome to SE VA. Not many places to play around here. The closest area would be the OBX (up and down the beaches). I'm game for a small M & G. Either Thursday or Friday. Let's see if Brady or Mike chim in here.

What city do you plan on living in? Hopefully, your contract will come through. Did I mention that I sell Homeowner's Insurance (hint, hint) ?

OT, but when I buy a house sometime this year, will you sell me insurance if i have a pit bull/boxer mix??? She's a sweatheart, but most companies wont deal with people if they have any type of pit...

As long as your dog doesn't have bite history it isn't a problem. When you purchase your house drop me a line and I'll find a PA agent for you.

No bite history...infact, she hides from new people until she figures out they are ok (about 15min) then just want's to lick your face...
Thanks...

Welcome to the area Will! Glad to see you made it safe. Did you take any picts of the KJ loaded for your cross-country expedition?

There aren't any places to wheel here. I have to drive 2 hours to find a hill to ride my mountain bike on (unless you like riding up and down Mt. Trashmore, which...trust me...I've done before). That's why I bought a Nylint 1:6 Jeep Rock Crawler. I take that bad little RC truck into First Landing State park and wheel away!

I'm going to be heading out of town on September 1st for a canoeing trip around Scottsville. Sorry guys. But I do still have a fuel tank skid and a front-mount receiver hitch to install. And I'm going to soon have a new soft-top for my wife's Miata to install. Maybe we need to have that install beach party before long. Sept 9th and 16th look good for now.

And as far as the misconseption that Pit mixes are dangerous...my dog Lou is a Black Lab and Pit mix. To all those who have met Lou...let the laughter begin. Thankfully, the place I got Lou from labelled him "Black Lab and Chow mix," so I can honestly say "No" when asked by insurance companies. Only I and my new vet have ever determined that he's part Pit.

Well I don't get back to VA until middle of Nov so all these trips are out for me, sucks for me.

But I did get to ride along for some desert wheelin in Dubai, UAE. It was a blast.
