I’m the proud new owner of a ’07 Rubicon.

I hated to do it but I had to sell the Liberty. There where too many problems with the CRD. Chrysler doesn’t seam to care about all the issues people are having with the diesel. Most have had major transmission issues and constant failing EGR valves. I just can’t justify keeping it if every four months I will have to replace the bloody EGR valve. In 16 months I have gone thru four of them. The projected long term repair costs are just too great at this rate. I’m better to cut my losses now.

Last week I test drove a two door Rubi while the Liberty was in for the problems with the alternator and ECM. I didn’t think I was really serious about it at the time. I told the sales woman about the Liberty and how I wanted to get it appraised before I made any decisions. She called the next day to tell me this steal blue one with all the options I wanted was just delivered minus the tow receiver that they could add. I decided to go check it out the next day when I picked up the KJ. On my way to the dealer the check engine light came on. There tech checked the code said EGR time again. That was the final straw. Not even out of the shop one day and this. Here is just a list of warrantable repairs the liberty has been thru:

    - 1,000 mi replaced the x-fer case shift cable.
    - 8,000 mi replaced water in fuel sensor,
    re-flash transmission control module.
    - 14,000 mi new front wheel hubs.
    - 20,000 mi first EGR valve,
    turbocharger oil seal.
    - 22,000 mi Lower Ball Joints.
    - 28,000 mi second EGR valve.
    - 32,000 mi torque converter recall,
    replaced leaking x-fer case seal.
    - 32,500 mi second turbo seal,
    - 32,600 mi new turbo (dealer forgot to hook up oil line after replacing seal)
    - 33,500 mi new throttle body,
    third EGR valve.
    - 38,100 mi new alternator,
    engine control module.
    - 38,150 mi forth EGR valve.

I was shocked when they offered about $3,000 more than Kelly Blue Book said it was worth. Needles to say I didn’t look back. So I guess this is to say I have to step down from being the Director of the Mid-Atlantic. WHO WANTS THE JOB? I’ll still be around. In fact I’m looking forward to GWNF on the 22nd.

Today I've even got a little mud on the tires.

So where are you going to mount all your electronic gizmos in the Wrangler? And remember that this is the first year for the new model so it might still have a bunch of bugs to get worked out. Congrats on the new money pit though. Can't wait to see it wheel in person. Hey so does that mean with your new Rubi, Richard's Rubi and my LJ, we can try going up Dictum Ridge this time? :D :D See you in a couple weeks.

Also, where is it written that an officer must currently own a Liberty? I see no problem with you staying on as Director. Oh by the way, yesterday was the first Wednesday of the month and no one even suggested that we have a meeting. So will we be having one this month? Are we ever going to get more organized and active?

Dictum is still a pain, Jason got a couple good shots of me trying and not making it with all 4 turning.

Ok down then. I made it down in the Liberty with Mike and Grant. Can't imagine not being able to make it now.

Dave do you remember the trail we tried to cut going up when we did a spring fling? Well, now that thing is nasty. I would like to try it again though. I will have to check all my nuts and bolts first.
