Hello all, I am not heavy into off roading, yet. I would like to find some "easy" places to take my Jeep in or around Upper Marlboro MD. Which is between Bowie and Waldorf. My Jeep is completely stock and I really intend to keep it that way for now. I am in the process of trying to find some front tows hooks and a hitch for cheap. Did put a thread out for those items. I don't know about taking it over rocks since I don't have a lift. I would imagine that a stock Jeep could handle some light mud and maybe a couple inches of water. As far as sand goes....you tell me what can a stock Jeep do in the sand? Obviously tires make or break a trip. Trying to work a deal right now for alittle better tires then what I have but will eventually upgrade to a good All-Terrain tire when I get some more cash. I have really only found one place that was close and it wasn't much just a short dirt trail underneath some powerlines. But it did have potential if it got some rain on it. Any place I have seen is usually fenced off or gated off. I am not opposed to driving alittle ways to get somewhere, but I would like to keep it to an hour each way if possible. Since I don't have the upgrades like alot of other KJ's I don't want to go to far only to find out I can't run the course with out a lift or MTs. Thanks -Corey |

I don't know of anything close to you that's legal, but keep an eye on the board. The next time we do a run down to George Washington National Forest in Virginia, you should come. It's probably about 2-2.5 hours from you but they have enough trails to run all day that are plenty stock friendly and the views from the mountain tops make it even more worthwhile. |

I sure wish there was more areas here in southern maryland, I have heard that theres some places in st marys county. I guess you could contact the hard rock crawlers down there and maybe they could help you out. When I had the liberty I think the stock tires did great in soft sand, we go to assateague island and drive on the beach all the time. The stock tires would cut threw the sand like butter, when I had the 31's MT/R's they would dig in to much. Once the trans temp light came on, never happened with the stockers. If I hear of any places locally I will hit ya up. |
