We're back. We started out with 11 KJ's, 1 XJ, 1 YJ, and 1 Exploder. Sandy and I left a before Dictum trail (which I really would have liked to do) since we had a 4hr drive ahead of us and it was 4p.m. GWNF is a perfect place for a club ride. The lunch break with "Chef Dean" at the grill was the high point of the day. The view from the knob was beautiful and you can't find better company!

It was a little cool and breezy with an occasional shower but the day was fine otherwise. We started off around 9 and headed up the mountain. We had to leave the YJ behind early due to mechanical problems. We stopped at a mudhole where everyone got a chance to play. Dean and Richard duking it out to see who could get the most mud on their Jeep. After everybody got a coat of mud, we continued up the mountain and arrived at Flagpole Knob a little earlier than anticipated. We stood around and chatted for a little then decided to go ahead and set up for lunch. Chris and Dean set up their grills and Dean took over the cooking chores. We ate our fill and then we gave out a few door prizes. We took a few group pictures and packed everything up. We headed back down the mountain along the so called "Jeep Trail". The stockers scraped their skids a few times but everyone else crawled right down the hill. When we got to the bottom, we found a short steep gravel hill for people to play on. Everybody that tried to go up made it, even if it took a couple of attempts. We headed for pavement and a few guys decided to leave because they had a long drive. We left the stock Jeeps at a local gas station and headed over to Dictum Ridge trail. After a short climb we came to the rock ledge that would make or break this trail. There was a bypass, but it wasn't that easy either. Al tried crawling over the rock ledge while Jack slowly worked and winched his way up the bypass. Al came close to getting over the ledge a few times but couldn't quite make it, even with his extra clearance and locker. Eventually the XJ that came also made it up the bypass. We decided that instead of trying to winch the remaining Jeeps up the bypass, we would turn around and go up Second Mountain Trail and meet Jack and the XJ at the ATV staging area at the top of the mountain. In the process of turning around, I got stuck close to a tree and had to be strapped away to avoid damage. I still managed to pop apart the bumper and fender flare on the passenger side on a branch. It was getting late and we got off Dictum and started up Second Mountain. It was getting dark and everybody got a chance to use their off-road lights. We came to a split in the trail and were unsure which way to go, so we radioed Jack and had him check the gps and plot a course down to us. They arrived shortly and we headed back down the way we came up. When we hit pavement, we went back and picked up the stock Jeeps and went to air up. Richard took Cody to the campsite to pick up his gear and then they were to head back and pick up the YJ. Since Richard said we could come over his house and help me pop my bumper and flairs, we went to the trail head and waited for him. After Richard hooked the YJ up to his hitch, we headed to town to fuel up. Along the way, Richard's Jeep started making a loud noise from one of the belt pulleys. We headed down the highway. We got less than halfway to Richmond when Richard's Jeep suddenly lost power and blew up a cloud of smoke. It turned out he threw the pulley that was making the noise earlier. He called Triple A but the tow wouldn't get there for an hour. We stayed with him until it arrived then we followed the tow truck while they dropped Cody's YJ at a gas station at the next exit. We continued to follow the tow truck until they turned off. Then I turned up I-95 and headed home. All in all a good day but with a few bumps at the end.

as always... day late and dollar short... I wish I could have gone too, but my tires will be in this week and my honey just told me he got me a rocky road lift kit! It feels like Christmas early!

Next trip you can count me in!

Another day passed and the idler pully is still causing the Jeep to remain unuseable. Other than that...This was a great trip and I had tons of fun!

Just got back from my event I ran today and man am I tired. I hated to have to leave last night due to my event (and a little earlier than planned since Wendy got a little ill). But it was fun and it was great to see some new friends as well as old. I`m a bit tired now and I`ll post a bunch more tomorrow. Oh, and I`ll post the pics I have then as well.

Thanks for all that showed! Awesome turnout and great bunch of folks!:)

Mike

First off, i want to say that Lynn and I had a blast! It was nice to meet all the guys that were there, and look forward to doing it again. The XJ and Explorer guys that were with us, also had a blast, and wanted to thank you guys for the hospitality!

We didnt get many pictures (stills) b/c Lynn was busy video taping what she could. I'll have an update on this in the next few weeks when she gets time to start editing. If anyone has any pics of me going through the mud, stream and anything else, can you guys please send me a PM and i'll get you my email, so i can have some pics of myself. :D Any other pics that would be nice to include in the video can be sent to me too. Looks like we got a couple hours of footage to make a decent video of the trip.

Dave and I want to thank all of you:

Richard
Cody
Dean
Al
Chris
Joe, Diane, and Alexis
Randy and Sandy
Jack and Janice
George and Nancy
Mike and Wes
Nate and Lynn
Garrett
Steven
And of course Wendy and Kimberly ;)

The Fall Krawl was a blast and it was great to see some new people as well as old. Also, good to see that Al made sure to get to Harrisonburg, not Harrisburg...:) Just teasin` ya Al.

The scenery was gorgeous, there was enough mud to go around, and the trails were cool although Dictum was not to be conquered going up that rainy day. I`m sure Al and a few others want a piece of it in the not to distant future...right Al?;)

All in all, all of you made it the day it was. Look forward to seeing all of you (and some other members too!) at future Meet and Greets, off road adventures at Paragon and Rausch, and wherever else the trails take us!

Mike

p.s. Thanks to Alexis for all her help with the raffle and giving out the prizes!
