Post subject:  anyone got a beater for sale?

Tranny died in my Jeep yesterday. Was waiting another couple weeks for a big check I'm expecting to trade it in on a civic hybrid. Fixing the tranny is not worth it. They're giving me 3k as is, would only be 4k if I fixed it.

Either way, we ordered the hybrid, but it won't be here until August. I need something to drive around until then. I have up to $2,000 to spend on a beater. If I'm buying a POS daily driver to drive to work and back for 2 months, I'd rather get a wrangler that I can actually turn into a project vehicle afterwards.

So guess what I'm asking is...

Does anyone in MA-land have a POS wrangler for sale? Doesn't matter what year, what mileage, or what condition as long as it can act as a DD for 2 month in it's current state.

A few days ago there was a YJ Wrangler with a for sale sign on it in the parking lot across the street from work. Not sure if it's still there though. If it is, I'll jot down a phone number for you. Otherwise I'll just keep my eyes open for any potential Jeeps in my area.

thanks for the links!!

Never even thought about Craig's list.

ends up there is a 92 wrangler here in town for an acceptable price. NEVER seen something listed on Craig's for my city before.

Anyone know if a 92 wrangler used the same 5x4.5 bolt pattern? Would be great to just trade rims/wheels

CJ's used 5x5 bolt pattern but the YJ, TJ, ZJ, XJ, and of course KJ all use 5x4.5 bolt pattern.

k, I can tell you bout a 3.7 KJ like it's no ones business, this is gonna be a laerning time for me tohugh.

Sposed to be taking possesion of a 92 wrangler, 4.0 auto, seems to be in decent condition. $2k. 130k miles. Started right up, couple laps arounf the block were smooth, but no highway time during test. engine was almost spotless, no signs of any leaking. seemed basically rust free what what I could tell climbing under it.

From what I saw during my search, $2k for a wrangler that starts on it's own is pretty good.

Anyways, what kind of "J" is a 92 wrangler?

That seems like a pretty good deal to me as well and I believe that it is a YJ wrangler (Square headlights?).

I'll transfer my air system, lights, rubi rims and MTRs to this, put these wheels on the libby for trade in and put the rest of the stuff I have on my wife's 06 libby. Anyone good enough in photoshop to turn every pic of my silver liberty at my website (in sig) into a dark khaki instead? :P
