anywhere theres mud ,mudpuddles,we find them,we really dont have any legal places to go, we also like to goto OC on the beach at assateaqe island i think thats not spelled right? we are always out looking to get the jeep dirty, but it only stays dirty for a day then i like to clean it, 510.00 a month say clean me every time its dirty, but it looks cooler dirty!! so if you know of any places local let me know, calverty county is small so theres alot of cops around here with nothing better to do but bust my balls, only good thing is my brother inlaw does dispatch for 911 here in county and he has a rubicon unlimited ,so he is usually with us tearin up constrution sites |

I heard it costs money to drive out onto Assateague. Is that correct? I'd like to ride out there one day if possible since I've always gone to NC for it. Not that Assateague is any closer to me, just a change of location. James |

First of all, you really SHOULD NOT be fooling around at constructon sites or any other illegal places. Here is a post from Mike a few months back about it: Quote: Hey guys, I just want to mention that we cannot condone any offroading on private property without permission. This is one reason why we are losing our rights and trails and anyone associated with the L.O.S.T. club in any way should not participate in this kind of activity. We should respect the land and other peoples property. I quote JJ "L.O.S.T. as a group follows (or should) Tread Lightlys guidelines".
Please abstain from doing any illegal offroading and please do not bring any mention of illegal offroading activity to these boards. Furthermore, if anyone from this club does participate in this type of activity, they can be expelled. I don`t want to sound like a hardcase, but we must respect the laws and the rights of people and their private property. http://www.nps.gov/asis/orv.htm That is the info for going on the Beach at Assateague. You need a permit, $70 for a year. And if you don't stay where you are supposed to be(like you go on the dunes) you can be federally prosecuted.[/url] |

70 dollars a year not weak and thata runs from the day you bought it to one year later not the end of the year, i bought mine in april 05 and its good to april 06,this also lets get into the VA side also chincoteague but they only let half as many 4x4s on the beach at a time on VA side, in the summer you got to get on the beach early, it gets crowded quick but its 13 miles of beach we will be trying to goto the beach in april to go fishing and 4 wheelin so when we nail down a date i will post again to see if any of you local guys want to go!! last year we went first week of april and sat. was blazing hot ,sunday was freezing cold and 35 mile hour wind all day so our faces had mixture of sun and wind burn, wasnt pretty !! as far as doing anything illegal offroad we dont ,when i say tearing up construction sites im saying they have nice fresh dirt roads going through them and they get muddy, so if i want to drive down a muddy road then was is that illegal? we dont drive 100 miles an hour down the road, we also respect the property, if i wanted to tear something up ive got 17 acres in my back yard that get down right muddy after you turn the soil over with the plow!!! very muddy!! i not stupid enough to drove on the sites because i do home improvements myself and i know how many nails get dropped on the ground or thrown on the ground!! one time while driving in my company truck on the job i ran over a survey steak in the ground that was broke off about 1 inch above ground level and POP goes my tire!! so i learned the hard way about driving around job sites, so if offend anybody them sorry ,and we always tread lighty, I LOVE MUD it makes me horny how bout you |

Well, to each his own I guess. Just for my particular situation, Assategue Island and Hatteras Island are about the same distance away from me. So, why would I pay $70 for one when the other is free and has more beach to play on? But for you, Assateague Island is the way to go and it sounds like you have a good time with it. What do you guys usually fish for? I go for anything, but usually end up with nothing. If something does hit, it's usually a shark James |
