I have them in the front of my Jeep. They stop a lot better than the factory rotors.

I would like go with slotted rotors next time mine need replacing. As far as pads go I've been using Bendix on my last 4 vehicles with no complaints. Plus, if you fill out the warranty card and they wear out, they'll replace them free (supposedly). I've yet to keep a vehicle that long, lol.

I like my Hawks...best braking KJ I've driven, despite the heavy-arse rubber, and i've driven quite a few low-mileage rentals and new off-the-lot KJs

I had the Hawk pads on mine when I first got the Powerslots. They stopped really well, but were extremely dusty and squeaky. I ended up with the top of the line semi-metallics from Midas. They don't stop quite as well as the Hawks, but almost no dust, and no squeaking at all. Still much better than factory.

I thought about getting these but wouldn't mud get caked in the slots and make them useless?

Doubtful when the metal expands and contracts the mud would fall out. plus the friction that the pads make.

I'm not spending $100/rotor on the basis of "doubtful"

I've never had any problems with mud sticking in the slots.Either way it won't hurt anything and will clean them selfs out.

Even with clay-like mud?

Unless you do some major braking on hills while pulling a trailer you'll be better off with plain rotors.

I do major braking everytime I hit the brake pedal, the stock rotors just wouldn't stop my 5500lbs KJ,the PowerSlots are a 100% better.

I always figured those would actually hurt performance.

After doing some reading it seems like those slots or holes let the pads out-gas during hard braking. I can understand needing those if you do alot of heavy towing or high speed runs but for the majority of the KJ drivers those wouldnt help much.

Also, with all the holes the pads actually have less surface area to contact which would make me think it wouldnt brake as good.

Just throwing out some idea.. Not 100% sure thats correct. :?

Edit: seems as if tjkj has had good luck with them though. Im sure they wouldnt warp as fast as the stock rotors.

Power Slot rotors do not have any holes drilled into them, they have like eight 1/8" deep and 1/8" wide slots cut into the rotor surface to allow the super heated gases formed from braking to escape and keep your brakes cooler and actually by doing that increses the pad to rotor contact then having solid rotors, otherwise with solid rotor the gas is trapped under the pads and prevents parts of the pad from contacting the rotor and can lead to "hot spots" on the rotors.

Yeah, on a race track or if you drive like you are on a race track. Under normal braking conditions the only difference you will notice is the fact that you have new brakes. I can't say that I've ever experienced brake fade under normal driving conditions.

3,000 lb trailer on I17 south coming off of I40 near Flagstaff...anybody that's driven on that little downhill stretch knows what I'm talking about.

only time I've taken my KJ past 85...and it was NOT fun
