Okay, In that picture you pasted i am not flat at all im angled quite a bit, my cvs are at a great angle when its level.. and with the stock KJ i can drive right next to it and my mirror goes well over theirs with even more room but i will get a picture with mine and a stock side by side..

2.5 strut spacer you can kinda see in the pic and a 2.5 coil spring. can't really tell in the pic but its there.

And i am replacing the ball joints and tie rods this week!! and hopefully it will do better wheeling because i noticed a change in the past month of the wheels hopping like someone saide in on of my videos.. that is due to what i think is my bad ball joints and tie rods.. but when i first put the lift on i could climb up the hills in low easy but after 5 months and before the recall on the kj when i have it in low it wants to hop real bad going up the hill thats why i only used 4wheel high.. but i will put more pics on here soon.. thanks for clearing everything up for me since im new 8)

Have you done any sort of cradle drop? Jeepin al has a 2" drop that you might want to look into.

AS for gears you only can go as low as 4.10's,the fronts need to come from a 4-cylinder KJ,dealer,or I believe Reider racing has them(need to ask for then, made by Spicer). Almost any gear manufacture has gears for the 8.25,I'm using Yukon gears and axles in my 8.25.Just to say I'm sucking wind in my KJ with 4.10's and 32" tires, can't imagine what yours feels like.

My guess would be shaving off the "into the diff" side of the CV drive axle, so you can move the thicker portion of the axle, where it first bends and also where it hits with the suspension at full droop, closer to the axle and out from underneath the clevis. I have no idea if Marlin means something else by "cutting the inner face of the CV".

So, would you recommend doing this coil + spacer lift for others? The al's arms should take care of the problem, no?

I was talking about the front cradle that supports the motor, rack and the housing. Al has made a 2" drop bracket for that, I don't see it for sale seperately yet but will be offered with the 6" lift. I am sure he will be selling parts individually.

Sure, just tweak a few things out im going to buy a few of al's parts to make my kj better but if you don't wanna spend the 3500 for als 6 i would just do mine or buy als rear springs and combo the front that way more flex in the rear.. mine flexes way better than my buddies tj witha 4inch lift.. i was surprised... you will get the same flex as if you just had the 3 inch coils all around, but the strut and spring spacer gives you more clearance.. for bigger tires ect... im going to buy als top control arms, im welding up rear long arms right now and im going to make a cradle drop bracket. im also welding a front bumper right now too and hope to have it on before winter.. :)

swampthg,

i think that al will have all kinds of good stuff that you could use to get your lift working a little better. basically what you have vs. al's 6in is like the difference between getting a rusty's or frankie full spring 2.5 vs. a 2.5 spacer lift. so, what are you running in the rear right now? do you have some 5 or 6in springs and long shocks back there? if so, what kind are you using? do you have any kind of drive shaft problems right now?

by the way, i thought that there was a really good reason why a cradle drop couldnt be done on a liberty... what happened to that? so now we can just pop a bracket in there and we're good to go?

Well I hope it is as easy as it sounds. I want to go taller and the cradle drop will make me feel better about doing it.

Hey swampthng, what shocks are you using in the rear?

IF it was easy and simple then you would see us all with 4/6 even 8 inches of lift. If you dont know what youre getting into its best to wait and do it the right way with a kit if one becomes available that we all knows works

just my 2 cents and a little bit of experience

Thus the reason for all these questions, if we wanted to dive right in there would be no need to ask.

I am getting a little sick of this forum.

In the rear I have 3 inch springs and a 2.5 inch spacer/cup under the spring.. I thought about upgrading to als 6 inch spring for more flex but i don't think i can use any more because right now my 33's stuff under there as much as they will go so more flex in the rear wont help.. i may or may not swap out the rear springs.. i might be making the cup bigger tho to give the rear a total of 7inchs because it will give me more clearence and will still flex as much as i need like i said my kj articulates way more than my buddies 05 tj with a 4incher... as for the rear shocks i am running a cherokee BDS shock i think eye to eye was somewhere around 28-32 inchs i forget but i think those shocks are for a rear xj with a 6 inch lift.. as for the front im using a kyb shock and the longer rustys srping and strut combo..

and right now i have no problems with the rear no axle problems or anything.. but the front i need to cut 3/8 off the front face of the cv for the axle clearence and replace the outter tie rod and get the new top control arms.. maybe that will help the wheel hop in the front in low gear...

check out my cardomain page and you can see the flex i have its not intense off roading just on a wall by my garage to show the flex i have..
