Problem is no one would grease the bearings and keep care of them so they'd still be replacing parts

Almost 1200 dollars to replace a front CV Shaft? Holy crap.... You could have bought the CV Shaft, and 1100 dollars worth of tools for that much :)

Toyota had locking hubs with IFS....

It would be nice to have them, especially considering if you break a cv you could just unlock that hub, or the fuse in them... A lot easier to change a locking hub fuse than a CV Joint..... Plus so many of us deal with front end vibrations hubs would be an easy way to get all the stuff up front to not rotate while going down the road.

i wonder if anyone has tried to adapt some XJ knuckles. only thing to work out would be the length and that shouldnt be that hard since you can get custom cv axles made right.... dont see why they wouldnt fit through the shock mount

XJ = SFA and KJ = IFS

Not going to happen unless you do a SFA swap on the KJ.

knuckle + spindle = locking hubs. your saying that a cv axle with two articulating points cant be used with lockouts? i guess thats why ive never seen a setup like that. what makes this a problem... the way the ifs cv axle shaft moves, or slips in and out compared to a straight axle cv shaft? cause the knuckle would move up and down and steer just like it does now. except it would have a different shaft like this one...

anyone have the measurements for the three mounting holes on the xj knuckles? surely someone has thought about this already...

It's not going to happen without a butt load of $$$ to custom fab 1 off parts.Making cast steel molds then the machining can start at about $50,000-$75,000 for something the size if a knuckle.

Your not going to gain any mpg's or reliability from adding manual lockouts. The setup the KJ uses from the factory is much stronger then any lockout since there is no moving parts to break.

See the post right above yours, nothings changed and most likely(like 99.9999999% likely) will never change unless you pay to have the custom work done.

Only way to do it is to do a SFA swap, not going to happen with IFS.
