I heard the only difference is due to the change is style of the bumper cover you would have to trim a little bit of plastic whereas mine slipped right in like it should have been there to begin with. The unibody frame where the hitch would mount has not changed at all.

So yes you would be breaking out a trimming tool regardless. I believe the hitch making companies decided the market was not that large and they did not want to deal with the changes in the bumper covers to keep the parts on the market.

It looks like you really did some trimming up front. How well does that hold up now, any flapping at higher speeds?

I luv the trimmed bumper, I had a flap at first but I figured out which side it was from and then I popped in another of the rivets and that stopped it. Since then I have had no flapping issues.

does a hidden front hitch receiver have more advantages than tow hooks, or is it more trouble than what it's worth?

Seems like you're going to get one. As far as answering your question (for any newer folks) yes, the front receiver has more advantages over tow hooks.

- No fear of the strap slipping off. Put the strap though a shackle and you're good.

- There's not too much of a price differance between Mopar hooks and a hitch. If you decide to get a winch later, you can install it on a cradle that pops into the hitch. If you bought the hooks, you'd spend your money twice.

- Like they already mentioned, it's stronger and could be used as a jacking point.

65042 is the part number of the discontinued Draw-Tite front reciever hitch. It seems mile marker added 60- to the Draw-tite number. I would not see why it wouldn't fit.

I have an 05 Limited with Reese front hitch, I had to trim bumper cover and relocate license plate holder.

I put on a Hidden Hitch from All J, it's described as a one piece design but is in 2 pieces for an easier fit. You have to drill a couple of holes as I remember but it when on pretty smoothly. Take off front bumper etc. , the only mod is moving your licience plate over.

Hardest part was pulling the bumper cover off

I have a Reese Model #13542 class 3 front liberty hitch I need to sell. It's brand new with all hardware, etc. I bought it and never installed it.
$85. Pick it up in Pomona CA.

I'll post this in for sale also.

To add to the tech discussion, I mounted one of these on my XJ and it kicks booty. Try this with a tow hook:
