It could have been anti- Rusty's propaganda you were reading? Rusty took the time to research and develop an excellent lift with springs manufactured specifically for the kit and a lot of people don't like that.

Hey, I was days away from a Rusty's lift when Miah posted a 6 week used Frankenlift for what Rusty's & shipping would cost. I had decided that Rusty's was the best bang for the buck. But, when an almost new Frankie popped up for the same price...

I for one hope is wasnt true. Im using ths rustys front springs. :?

I got in on the first LOST Rusty's group buy years ago and had it in my garrage for $420 shipped. I have 36K miles on the kit and no sagging (I have towed some loaded tandem axle trailers too). I had the rear shock noise thing but that cleared up after tightening them up about three times.

i found a used frankenlift that was installed for about a month for a little bit more than a new Rusty's so i think i'm gonna go with that.

should upgrading the arms be done with a franken then?

Its not necessary, but helps. Just make sure you check that you don't have upper ball joint contact on the spring. See here for more info
