So, if I pull back on the plastic bumper (without removing any pop rivets etc.) I can expose the crush things and unbolt them and expose the hole in the front of the framerail?

Also, if I can get my hands on the m-bolts, how do they go in without doing the above step?

Thanks for everyones' input. Jeep really should put more thought into this.

Put more thought into this? How is it their fault that you bought used hooks, without the hardware or instructions, and as a result have no idea how to install them?

How hard was this?

That is really unecessary Titan. I bought the tow hooks w/o bolts assuming parts for an 05 would be readily available from the dealer like parts for all other vehicles I have ever owned are. I also was given instructions from the dealer that make absolutely no sense--they must be from a pre '05. I have put tow hooks on numerous vehicles, including XJ's, and it is not this complicated.

The reason I posted on this site is that I am seeking help putting them on. Isn't that what this forum is for?

As of yet, no one has provided this for me. There is no way to access the inside of the framerail w/o removing the bumper.

Jeep should include tow hooks on any vehicle they call "trail rated" and they should engineer them to be simple to install. My neighbors Subaru Forester has factory tow hooks.

k heres how i did mine. first I pulled out the front grill (its just clipped on no bolts) then all the bumper mounting parts and lights. then I pulled the black nubs on the bumper support on the car. slid in the mounting brakets bolted the tow hooks to that and added some red locktite. the put the black nubs back on and re attached the bumper. you will need a small torques bit to take off the front turn signals. the whole process took under a hour.

Edit: i used a box cutter to cut the holes in the bumper where the hooks are at.

If you use the captured bolts, you will need to drill out the pop rivets and pull back the bumper cover to remove the crush caps. The M-bolt is fished from one hole to the other. You need to see the install manual. http://site.justforjeeps.com/guide/82206124.pdf
If you need nuts and bolts other that the M-bolt and captured bolts PM me.

Ok here ya go. For the '05 front tow hook install

Sorry but i dont have pics of any of this really they would really help you understand this mess but i will try

Remove the grill (clipped on in six places right by the radiator and above each headlight) you do not need the plastic rivets they are talking about, the only one you need to remove are the push rivet style (one on each side) You just takke a small flat head and place it in the grove on the side of the pop rivet and pry it back and it will pop out. Next remove two bolts (one per each side) by the parking lights ( NOT the Torx bolts holding the parking lens on) Then move underneath and take out two bolts holding the bottom lip of the bumper to the frame. Now kinda pull the bottom edge of the front bumper up and out to unclip it. Remove the parking light bulbs and marker bulbs and unclip the wire loom from the inside of the bumper and your done - bumper removed. Should take no more than 10 minutes TOPS. Now to mount the hooks with your own bolts remove the two black crush cans ( one bolt each) and this will give you access to inside the frame rails for the two of the three bolts to mount the hooks. Install is just the opposite.

Trust me this is very easy to remove your bumper and should take you minimun time.
