Well the jeep had a very good accelerant, gas. Vehicles tend to burn fast and for a long time, there are many things inside them that act as accelerants but gas is the primary. If you ever watched the video of the burning car in the Glasgow airport, that thing burned for sometime yet still burned quick.

If a little fire started caused by something electrical, it wouldn't be hard for it to get near fuel lines or the fuel injectors. For those of us with fire extinguishers in our vehicles (something you SHOULD have if you four wheel) their main purpose is to get everyone out of a vehicle safely. It would be hard pressed for a little fire extinguisher to stop a car fire. Most of the car is an accelerant.

Also, if the guy didn't turn off his car thus the fuel pump could've still been pumping fuel into the engine bay. Most cars have kill switches these days, but in a scenario like this things like that can fail too.

You're welcome. It's amazing what's in a vehicle that will burn, practically everything. Did you see the tires pop from over pressure? Think of what will happen to the airbag detonators in the fire, or the car battery. When my brother was a fireman, it took almost 6 months for him to go to his first fire call (most were emt related calls), go figure it was a car fire on the highway.

Fires are no fun, especially when you CAN NOT get out by yourself....

XJ's burn pretty good too.

I thought the video said it was an 07?

Could thise have been custom owner installed fog lights? Never seen a Rene with a chrome grille. Didn't know they had chorme grilles in 05's.

Anyway, if it was an 07, makes you really want to pay attention to your mods and the correct wiring.

Talking about good car fires was at a new car dealership back in 82, sitting in the show room, salesman was telling this couple that their new van would be out in just a few minutes, they were just finishing undercoating it. finally see a van roll up and park they go out to look at it then run like heck away as I see flames coming out from underneath, that thing was fully engulfed in a matter of a few minutes, one of those custom conversion raised fiberglass roof and all, what a fire! They ran out with fire ext. but was way too late to save it. Of course also got the 3 cars sitting next to it as well, one of them was the one I had just signed papers on  Had just waited 6 weeks for it to come in!

This event truly put tears in my eyes.
A beautiful classic fully restored Corvette split window coupe.Never new what started the fire but seeing that car burn was tragic. It felt like (probably another subject) seeing the American Flag burn.
Both actions are totally wrong.
