I had 33's on my Wrangler with 4:10's and didn't have a problem? I do agree with the 5" or more lift and probably removing the liners up front and relocating the windshield washer may have to happen all things I'm figuring on having to do to have 33's. I had 32" tires on before and just made it with my 4" lift. Joe
The I-6 has alot more low end torque then the 3.7 V-6.I'm sucking wind with 32" tires and 4.10's,33" tires would kill the tranny in no time, and with the wheeling here in CO the front diff would break on the mildest of trails.Yes I know Al ran that size but he also welded extra reinforcment on the D30A,no collar either,it was welded on.

Just because you can run a certian tire size on one vehicle with a certian gear ratio doesn't mean it will work on another with the same results.

Have fun with the rear unless you recenter the rear diff.

i agrre with tjkj on the fact of running 33's with 4.10's----its gunna suck....I have the same 265/75's as others and not only do they rub but it has no power even with 2.56 gears. I really want 33's-----i have always felt to be a real jeep ,or truck for that matter, you need at least 33's......but I honestly think we are all gunna have to wait and see what the future holds for a 6" IFS lift or a SAS. I dont want to seem pessimistic , but I dont think it will work well. But good luck and keep us posted......in the meen time Ill still be rolling around CARY, NC on my little 265's :(

Well I'm knee deep into this Liberty now, was going to trade it on a Wrangler but the better half persuaded me to stick it out. If it breaks gonna have to buy stronger stuff! Just empty every pocket!

Your like me,wanting more.

Time to stop throwing money at the IFS and start looking at a SFA swap. The KJ is great offroad, even with the IFS,but there is a time to stop polishing a turd(D30A) and get the good stuff to wheel it hard and stuff those bigger tires on.I have impressed many here in CO with my KJ as it is now and they think it's cool, and will even cooler with the SFA and 35's.USAFCOP and myself have proven the KJ's worthyness to many, time to step it up.

the HMMWV was designed by AMC. AM General just got bought out by GM.

Those arms look wicked...it looks like those won't break

AMC had nothing to do with AM General, they actually competed against each other for the contract AM General won to build the HMMWV.AM General had nothing to do with GM either besides buying engines and trannies from them till GM bought them a few years ago and ruined there name.AM General has made many other vehicles for the US military also for many, many years.

I thought AM General was owned by AMC, then got sold when Peugeot bought out AMC, since the gov't didn't want to buy vehicles from a foreign-controlled company?

Either way, the new arms are sweet. Hopefully Wes can get a pair for what happened today..

Yes, you are correct. Chrysler bought AMC from Peugeot.

now tell me, the people doing the sfa swap and going 33+, how do you expect them to turn their wheels with only the 3.7 ?

Honestely though, i think your over exagerating, the darn motor can tow 5000lbs all at the rear but cant move a couple hundred extra pounds spread out evenly around the vehicle?

4.56 and lower gears, that how we are turning 33"+ tires.

The stress of bigger tires and not regearing is like towing max wieght all the time,so if you do tow also you'd be overstressing the drivetrain.

I'm pretty happy w/ the 4.56's and my 305/70-16's. Peppier than before and even handles better on twisty roads. (once I got used to that change in steering ratio)

305/70's any rubbing issues with a wide tire? Also what tire did you find in a strange size like that?

SFA answers that question. Thanks for the picture though, it will leave me somthing to day dream about. Love the tires though, I don't think I could make em fit with out going SFA though. But in efforts to get the thread back on track, the new upper arms look pretty stout and very well engineered, I'm looking foward to the new stuff JBA is coming out with.

Found this on Chart:

32" tires, fuel mileage=3.73, near factory ratio=4.11, more power=4.56

33" tires, fuel mileage=3.91, near factory ratio=4.27, more power=4.88

Tells what to expect with your gearing.

Thanks for the chart info, I was trying to figure out the math a few weeks ago and wasn't smart enough.
