Diff collar question

i have a steel one, i made at work, i sprayed undercoating on it before i installed it!!!!

OK, the collar I got from the part numbers in this thread did not fit what so ever. I wasn't even able to get the bolts started or even get it all the way on the differential. Do I need to grind it to fit or something? Maybe I am doing something wrong. This is for the front differential directly over the front rail between the 2 sides of the body right?

Although you did not state it, can we assume you have a 3.7 gasser? For some reason they do not fit on the CRD's.
If so, then the part # you were to order should of had a 3 9/16" I.D. and will fit as pictured on the previous page.

I machined/sanded mine to fit (don't remember the number it was ~ 1/16")

the issue with CRD's was not enough space to the crossmember steel fits better than Al.

Yeah I have the 3.7 liter gasser. The problem was not getting the collar in place, but the fact that it would not even slide fully onto the neck of the differential. Due to this I couldn't get the bolts to even touch the bottom part of the collar, let alone start. Anyone know how much you usually have to bore this out to get it to fit on the jeep?

Whats the collar for? Front differential protection? (I know newb question, just pricing what ill need to protect the libby offroad)

doesn't really protect/prevent anything, its just piece of mind. if you front dif. grenades on the trail, you'll be able to drive it off the trail.
