I have the Black widow and it serves it's purpose, I have had plenty of weight on it without any problems. If I did it all over again though I would get a rock lizard rack or one built by Boiler, his are very nice as well. Some pics before I painted the crossbars.

I've got material and time to make you a rack if you're interested. They aren't as cheap as the bolt on baskets, but they aren't too godaweful expensive and they are a lot cleaner. Check out the link in my sig and PM me questions if you want to.

Forgive the self promotion, but I'm eager. :)

I was drooling over that rack earlier I believe. Ha, You prob don't take credit cards though? :P

Yeah I can take credit cards (or any type of payment via paypal), cashiers checks, money orders. Paypal is the no muss no fuss method of choice for most buyers I think.

Ok I saw this rack on amazon for ~100, now I need to find cross bars for cheap. But what is your exact setup crossbars and all the fasteners?

ebay jeep liberty crossbars
but personally i do not like them b/c they do not come off very fast or put on very fast for that matter.
the owner of them did a very good job at selling me on the "locking aspect" but the locking part is just so you don't steal the cover.

I have the Surco Safari rack and think it works very well. The vertical support bars are spaced enough where no wind noise can be noticed (none more than the stock renegade rack) and it seems well built. It also looks good. It is more expensive than the black widow but my personal opinion is that it is a much better rack. Plus, if you get the 45" wide Surco rack then you don't need to purchase cross bars as the basket has crossbars into the base of the basket that extend beyond the factory horizontal bars.

Im not worried about quick releases or anything as the bars would be on the jeep 100% of the time. Even if I take the cargo rack off they will be used for skis. Thanks.

Edit: I saw the crossbars, I have the renegade rails >.< so they wont work.

That's similar to the one i have except mine is a sportrack from Canadian Tire. It comes with the front wind deflector. I used to have it mounted on yakima crossrails but decided it was too high up. So now i have it mounted on angle iron at each end. It's about as low profile as you can go without scraping the roof. As far as I know I'm the only one using angle iron but it works great.

Angle iron is just flat steel bent at a right angle along the length. A cross section would look like an L. Or if you took some square tubing and cut it diagonally. I will try an get a picture for you to see how i did it.
