Anyone had issues with the stock a-arm hitting the coils? Mine hits the coils (well the ball joint rubber does) when the wheel drops into a hole or something.

Not on mine. My arms came down and hit the large pad that they were designed to hit, not the coils.

Most shops are not good with lifted KJ's! Shoot, I can align a KJ with a level and tape measure without any problems!

Not accurate at all since the 2 LCA cam bolts both control camber and caster,it takes a delicate balance between the 2 to get both measurements back into spec. The is no real way to measure caster without the alignment machine on a IFS vehicle, you can get toe somewhat close with a tape measure but that's even iffy.

Sounds like the problem a few of us have been having in the "Popping and grinding fun" thread a few couple weeks back. Check your power steering isolator bushings. I am gonna be assuming that alot of ppl have the same issue and dont realize it yet. On the stock bushing, there is a rubber flange at the top of the bushing that seems to be fallin apart. The newer chryler ones dont have that flange, now do the napa ones.

Oh!! Where does this "pad" mount? I was going to see about fitting some kinda piece of rubber to the coil where the ball joint keeps hitting it. Would a limiting strap work?

My pad is built into my front strut assembly. How old is your frankenlift?

yea i think the original frankenlifts had a rubber pad hose-clamped on, but the new ones, have a built in pad on the "lower coil isolator/spacer"

but i dont think djui5 has a frankenlift, i think he just has the OME coils, so he wouldnt have that pad either way. but im not sure what he has exactly.

Yeah, I went wheeling with a guy from on here and he had an older Franky and the pad had been ripped off and lost. The new ones are a permanent fixture which is nice.

Thanks for the replies its nice to have peace of mind while your waiting.

I got the stock arms back on Monday and the alignment today. It almost aligned perfectly. The caster was still a little off but it was a little off before. I guess now I just need to keep an eye on the ball joints but I should be doing that anyway.

just make sure you guys keep an eye on your upper arms balljoints. i had my passenger one replaced about a year ago, and just a few months ago it was trashed again after only a year and 10-15k miles, VERY sloppy. then a week after that i noticed my drivers side one was bad too, after 70k miles. but the one that only had 10-15k on it, was much worse than the one with 70k on it. and they were both mopar arms.

so you never really know when they are gonna go, just keep an eye on them. i think they do give "somewhat" of a warning, youll hear an up and down clunking noise each time you hit a decent bump. more of the slop is up and down, not so much side to side. i could play with the balljoint, and it had at least 3/16" play EACH way up and down, inside the arm.

i HIGHLY recommend the AL's 4.5 arms. the ride does seem nicer because the balljoint is back at a correct angle and nice and tight, and the balljoints are replaceable, greasable, and very beefy. just my .02 though! :D

I have my stock UCA’s for sale if anyone is interested. They came off my 2007 and only had 12,00 miles on them when we took them off. I’d sell them for $75.00 bucks.

Any takers???

They make great paper weights for the desk.

They look great hanging from the rear veiw mirror. Better then those cheap dice.
