get the rusty's complete coil lift, its the same as frankenlift except the front strut / spring assembly isnt put together like it is on the frankenlift. rusty's lift is about $300 cheaper.

im sure im gonna get beat up for posting this!! lol bring it on!

No, they are not the same. Take a Rusty's Strut and a Frankenlift strut and lay them side by side. The Frankenlift will be longer due to using a daystar top plate and a Daystar spacer below the OME HD spring.

I would buy a Frankenlift before a Rusty's any day. All-J Products customer service beats the hell out of Rusty's, as do their products as well. I have been talking to Quinn for about 6-7 months about a minor difficulty. ( Not with the Frankenlift) He was always able to get on the phone and talk to me. He went above and beyond to help me. I had a bad customer service experience with Rusty that I don't care to elaborate on.

By the way I have an OME HD lift with Ranchos all around from All-J. It was right around the same price as the Rusty's.

Yeah, I talked to Heather for a while on Friday and went ahead and ordered the kit. It is the "new" kit with the redesigned lower spacer with built in bumpstop for the a-arm contact. At least that is what I understood. Anyhow, it is on the way and should be installed next weekend. I'll try to post pics when it is on.

Thanks again for all comments.

the struts are the same ( ome struts) just because the frankenlift struts have different hardware attached to one end or the other doesnt mean they are different. if i ordered the top plate and the spacer, attached it to the struts that came with rusty's, they would be identical.

dont bang on something you dont / havent run. that seems to happen alot on this website. not that i mind, just an observation.

now let the retaliation begin!! lol

Hey Jasonk, I'm not looking for a fight, but I have a Frankenlift, and it does NOT have OME struts. It has OME springs, but the struts and shocks are Ranchos...

oh! gotcha...

i was waiting for someone to set me straight.

have they always been rancho's? in any case, the struts are the same length and all, just different brand, correct?

no offense taken! thats what the forum is for, to show opinions and to get the facts in order...

i love this website!

Yes you could do that, but you would not have a Rustys lift, you would have something that you concocted. I thought we were talking about Rusty's lift and the Frankinlift.

dont bang on something you dont / havent run. that seems to happen alot on this website. not that i mind, just an observation.

Who's bangin on Rusty's lift? I just said his customer service was not up to par therefore, I will not buy his KJ products. I did not say a single word about the quality of his products.

now let the retaliation begin!! lol

I hate to ruin the fun but the frankenlift is a combo of spacers and HD springs. Rusty's coil lift is all new customer made parts now the shocks my not be that great but shocks are cheap and very easy to change. as far as them no fitting right if you don't want to bend in the little bracket on top just get some more washers. i did for mine and i don't get any rattle noise or anything, also from what i've read the Frankenlift rides a little harder ( prolly due to the spacers ) and put's a little more stress on the CV's. Nothing against the Frankenlift but to be honest most of the problems i see regarding suspension all the jeeps have the franken lift installed. I just got rusties and i would recoment buying a spring compresser from napa it ran about $50 if have any mechanical ability putting the front struts together are easy. Rusty's rides better than stock to it's soooo smooth and you get flex. Why do you need new bump stops?? the stock ones are fine.... I actually got 3" from my Rusty's lift

Here's a reason to put bumstops in.... Spring travel.... in opposite direction of the KJ:
Image

If you don't wheel the Jeep, you don't worry about the bumpstops, if you do wheel, you need to worry about running your tires into the fenders and losing a spring while wheeling.

I didn't install my bumpstops to get more flex, so I don't have any problems with that, unfortunately I can get a little too much flex and there was no bumpstop on the bottom to keep the spring where it needed to be.

Also, there is a difference between a ride being stiffer, and a ride that sticks to the ground better. The F'lift is so much better than stock ride wise and performance wise. Not saying Rusties is bad, just saying I love my Frankenlift.

Same here...I am not talking bad about Rusty's but the Frankinlift is by far the best KJ kit on the market for both on and off road.

I have only seen a couple of problems but that would apply to all the kits out there except for the RR OTT kit which will cause problems on almost every single one installed. The OTT kit is a cheap, not thought out kit that kills struts and many other parts on a KJ. I can not belive they are still stealing folks money with such a bad kit. To sell the OTT kit is just down right wrong. They will tell you they have not had any complains...this is a down right lie.

Yea we hear only a couple of folks saying they have problems with the Frankinlift but almost everysingle one of them freak out because they seem to think the KJ is too high...Like we keep posting...Drive it a few days and beat up on it and itl settles in great. Almost every single person that thought their KJ was too tall ended up after a few days loving the Frankinlift.

The Frankinlift has been out for a long time now and I have well over 90000 miles on one and it is working great. I have had it on 2 KJs now. I was one of the first guys to add this on his KJ to test...and test it I did. The very first trip was to Moab 3 years ago and I really beat up on it there. I am on my 4th trip to Moab on that same kit and it is still going strong.

I can not even count the endless numbers of miles I have logged off road with this kit. I drive over 50000 miles a year on the KJs I have... Believe me the Frankinlift kit is again by far the best kit out there. Later...clint

Has anyone ever seen a Rusty's coil come out like that? I wheel my Jeep pretty hard and have never had any problems with the rear spring moving around. Even with the longer rear shocks, the rear springs is still compressed a little when mine is drooped all the way.

I have seen 2 pictures on here now of skyjacker springs falling out. Maybe rusty's are longer than the skyjacker springs?

I'm glad i bought my Rusty's kit, it has been excellent. I put the extra money into more expensive wheels and tires.

Shorter shocks with less travel will keep the springs from coming out. With longer travel shocks the bumpstops keep the springs in.....

Here are some of the best reasons why you should not buy the Frankinlift.

1. You don't want one of the best lifts on the market today.
2. You do not want one of the best off road and on road lifts for the KJ.
3. You do not want the best flex out there in the KJ world.
4. You would like to keep buying different kits to try and find something even close to the Frankinlift.
5. You listen to folks that have no clue what they are talking about and like to spend money on cheap lifts that do not work.
6. You want a lift that looks good for a short period of time but then sags like your grandma.
7. You want something cheap and you have to go to Sears to have them set up the struts for ya.

I could go on and on about this but here are some facts. I had the Frankinlift on 2 KJs. The first KJ had well over 75000 miles on it and I wheeled it very hard. When I traded it in...I took the lift off and put it on my secind KJ. At 65000 miles it is still working like crazy. I feel this is one of the best lifts for the KJ on the market. Guys that are saying there are other lifts that are better...I can promise they have not driven a KJ with this lift or they would not be saying that at all. This is a fact.

You ask the guys that actually have a Frankinlift and they will tell ya...Install it. break it in. and then wheel it for many years. There is nothing else even close to it on the market today.

if you read the article in Off Road and SUV mag... we had like 15 or more jeeps on that run and all but one had the Frankinlift... After that event...they are now running the Frankinlift and it is like a night and day difference.

I am not talking crap here...I have had it on 2 KJs...no rumors...Just facts.... I have 4 RRO OTT kits that are sitting in my garage that I am going to trow in the trash because they should be...It is JUNK...

Again...this is not rumor or crap talking... I installed over 200 kits and this is by far the best kit out there...Yes over 200 my self.... I am not making this up. if any shop out there wants to try and do an install faster than me then please bring it on because I know they have no clue what they are talking about.

later...Clint

:-)r Boy isn't that the truth though.

My wife's new Liberty, KuJo, was built before the Frankenlift so it got what was decent at the time, the Daystar lift. We drove it to Moab and wheeled it very hard and I can tell you that the Daystar Sucks compared to my blue KJ w/ the Frankenlift. The Frankenlift is coming off my blue KJ soon and it is going on my wifes KJ along w/ Moog lowers and Al's uppers. Because hers is staying IFS it deserves the best. I will struggle along with the Daystar until I get the SFA in mine. I figure driving around on that Daystar lift should help to motivate me to get the SFA started.

Or, if you wanna go all out and go for an SFA....

Other than that, i can't think of any reason why not to get the Frankenlift, easily the best money spent on my Jeep.

Standing ovation to you "kickit_in4wheel"

I have posted a lift question on the forum a few days ago asking for insite and comments of lifts. I am in the market for a lif and when I came across this posting about the differant lifts, I have come to say, what I read in your posting really mad me think alot before buying one kit. I know that lifting is going to cost money over time for maint, and inspecting the of the jeep is something that should be done pretty much weekly before and after wheeling and or just street driving.

I think you hit the nail on the head with this one.

You know I started this thread to see if there were real reasons that owners of the Frankenlift could give me to make me consider any other possibility. The only reason that was given over and over was price. Yet I have read alot of reports on this board about other "cheaper" products having to be replaced or damaged parts(due to the cheaper lift) being replaced. That doesn't add up to "cheaper" in my book. I went with the Frankenlift and am very impressed with it. Not only was the kit put together very well, but it preforms exactly as I expected it to. And quite frankly, the customer service from All J is absolutely impeccable! They truly stand behind their product and make it a point to make the customer happy.
