I went to a 4x4 shop today to ask about wheels and he told me fixin up a liberty was like polishing a turd so I decided against his wheels and bought from summit racing.

Sadly that is the opinion of 99% of the 4X4 shops out there. It is far easier to sell TJ / JK parts and install them than looking out of the box of what can be done with a KJ or KK. Our local 4X4 shop is fairly big, having 8 bays, 3 full time salesmen, 6 or 8 techs and all you see is 10 inch lifted Dodge and Ford diesels and JKs . But its funny when I stopped in afew months ago, I come out and there are 6 techs under and around mine asking a ton of questions. Had to laugh when they said " Don't know who does your work but they do a great job" They about fell over when I told them it was all done by me :ROTFL:

The 4x4 shop up the road from me has all the 6 link or whatever lifted Dodges and Fords. No lifted Jeeps there.
Back on topic. I salute you for trying something different, kuntryboy, but without the knowledge of this forum, I can think of a few things I would have done differently, and probably would have paid for my mistakes.
If what you chooses works for you, great, if not, there are plenty of good testimonials for the other routes for lifting a Libby. Who knows, maybe someone in your area would even offer to give you a ride in one to give you a feel for the high quality. I can't bash what I don't know about, but I do stand behind my OME suspension 100 percent.

Well I did opt for all the upgrades RRO had to offer. Ome springs in front with ome struts and ome long travel shocks in back. So we will see how it goes...only thing im having a hard time with is getting tires. Seems yreadwright has moved from state to state and have not ramped up production. I want the 245 75 16 guard dogs but they have zilcho right now.

Glad you upgraded the shocks in the rear, hopefully you went with the OME springs as well.
I'd buy new tires, still have a couple of Treadwrights laying out back with tread separations from two different sets of four that some tried to run

Yeah the 4x4 shops are pretty narrow minded here as well. Friend of mine who used to work at one, said, to just get a spacer lift for my KJ, since its just a Liberty. Been meaning to make a swing by where he works now and say hi, next to the Subaru he has to drive now, lol. The shop he did work at is stuck in the mud, and slow to make changes to what's going on around them. They are also the first to see business tank whenever the economy gets shaky.

At least the OP did get the better parts, as that was one issue people had with RRO. I would save the cash and just get a decent set of tires, and skip the retreads. If you shop online, you can find deals. Tread Depot, Tire Crawler, etc can get you decent prices on rubber. Saved $40 a pop over local prices on my STTs

Even though they're narrow minded, they won't learn about vehicles unless they get experience from many customers... unless they "know" everything in the world already.
I definitely had a good experience with the 4x4 shop that installed my lift which I'm thankful for.
I remember they said they lifted one KJ before a while ago, but I didn't ask about what lift.

With work being a little slow, if they want to be narrow minded, I'll gladly take their potential business.

A lot of businesses underperform or even fail because they treat their customers like nitwits. Then someone like you comes along, delivers what the customer asks for, and usually makes out just fine. :D

Its like when I told the local 4X4 shop how many lifts we had done here on KJs, the one salesman said " Didn't think there were that many lifted in the whole country. "

I just happened to check the prices of RROs lift. Wouldn't it be a few hundred dollars cheaper to go with JBA?

I wonder how many lifted KJ/KK's there actually are in the country.

The worst I've heard here from shops is just "a lifted Liberty? People will lift anything these days". I've gotten the worst treatment out of the local Jeep clubs more than shops though. Tried to join up with an off-road club and another claiming to be an official 'family orientated' Jeep club and both turned me down saying it was for real Jeep and actual off-road enthusiasts and not a place for "cars like the Liberty". I've actually yet to find a single person to even wheel with around here but oh well.

That's why you go out to common offroading areas and show them up!

For some reason I don't get that response with my KJ.

I wouldn't have a clue as to why
