I'm also looking to buy a Jeep Liberty. I was looking at the 2002's. How do I know which one has the 1 inch extra clearance? Is this the better one to get? Thanks.

It has to do with the date of manufacture - do a forum search for "pre-lowered" when you have a chance for the exact answer, but anything before April 2002 should be good.

2004 they showed up as a thin sticker-like badge, and 2005+ they were a thicker one. Jeep had a policy where they would send them to anyone with a 2002-2003 4z4 liberty who requested one. Not sure if they still do or not. You can also buy the badge from a dealership.

All I know is the '05+ badge sure does look and feel a heck of a lot better than the crap they threw on the Jeeps for '04!
