Side by side pic of the Thrush Turbo muffler and the MagnaFlow UltraFlow muffler....

Sound clip of the MagnaFlow,I may have had my camera a little to close cause this clip doesn't do it any justice,it's much deeper and better in real life.Oh and I love a kackling muffler, reminds me of my '75 Cutlass with straight headers and thta's it.

Well, here is what my Super 44 Off Road sounds like. I (no surprise) like the sound of the flowmaster better. I don't like the kackle, it reminds me too much of the import crowd. Just my personal preference. It sounds way better in person too of course, there is a ton of ambient noise in the background. The video is before I sprayed off the muffler and the pic was after. You can still see where mud has been caked on it. That is why it looked so rough in my first pics.

That sounds killer! I'm assuming in person it is a deeper growl, with more volume? That would definitely stand out at the lights. Its a very surprising sound coming from a KJ I gotta say that. I will definitely be going with that... once I get a call from the shop about the cost lol.

I got mine on ebay for 85 or something. That was the day before the prices went to what they are now. I talked to the flowmaster guys and they told me the rates were going up worldwide on the following day and so I went home and bought the one off ebay. It is deeper with more volume in person. I love it.

I just got my Thrush Turbo muffler, found out they're made by Dynomax. I wanted to get the exact one Troy has on the Pumpkin but they only had 'vintage' so I said hey why not. Cost me $35 for the muffler, two clamps and a turndown at Advanced Auto Parts in Parker. Did exactly what Troy said and it worked like a charm, sounds bad@$$, too, IMO. I wish I could put a video up, but I don't have the technology. It made for the best upgrade I've done to the Jeep under $100.
I have not been hesitant to turn off my Jeep when parking for a few when I normally wouldn't, just to hear that startup

I needed a ultra compact muffler since room is going to be a premium with all the mounts for the control arms.

This is what interests me. Although my '02 Limited is sitting at stock height, I like the idea of tucking the muffler up further than what appears to be the situation with my current stock muffler.

I agree 110% - which is why from what I've heard in this thread (and can imagine in person), I like the sound of the 44 better. My question to you is, it appears this muffler sits (lower) just like a stock muffler, would this be an accurate assumption on my part? And mike, would I be correct to assume you're running exhaust through to the rear like a stock system?

With all due respect to everyone's preference, I hope my questions will relate to you both, my concerns. Thanks.

It does sit as low as the stock muffler. If you want it to sit higher, any shop worth their salt can bend some tube and raise it up and out of the way and yes I am running it to the stock exit. They used the exit pipe off my stock system and welded it to the new muffler along with the connecting flange coming off the cat. I figured since it was a beefed up off road muffler I wouldn't worry too much about raising it up and out of the way. But I do kind of wish I had just for extra insurance. Too late now. This off road 44 is nice an compact though.
