The RK lift does not have cast clevis's,they are steel units that like to eat CV boots.

Ok thanks. Well they dont even come close to the cv boots.

Also whats the difference of gasser coils(besides weight) and the struts?

I too remember the post of one of the first RK clevis lifts fitted to a CRD, it seems like they welded the strenghteners (don't know any other word for it) on the outside now instead of on the INSIDE where they used to be and therefore ate the CRD's inner CV boot.

Jeepbumm, you keep saying 4"lift but the one you have now is a 3,5", with saggy springs maybe a 3".

I'd stay away from a 4" on your CRD but that's only my opinion.

Why don't you just get a set of OEM springs and be done with it? There is a set for sale right here>only $80:

http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=40406

The difference between the gasser and the CRD coils is the thickness. Shocks are all the same.

Ya i am surprised but the thing is i have not had any problems with this lift. no cutting of the cv boot at all, even at full flex and full lock. Thanks i need to have the jeep at a true 3.5'' to 4'' lift for the type of wheeling that me and my girl do. My TJ sits on 4'' la kit and she needs about 3.5'' to 4'' to run with me in her libby

and the other thing if she is going to spend money on new coils we might as well by OME or some others that wont sag in 20k miles. She will put 20k miles on real fast. And as of right now i can buy both front and rear coils Heavy duty For Her CRD for 306. All i would need is new struts and shocks up front later on. And if i do this i would put them on with the RK lift to see how much it lift it and then take it off and put it on without the rk lift to see what the difference is

I still find it hard to believe you have no issues with this kit and stock rear shocks. I had a 2" Daystar lift and every speedbump the rear would do BANG as the shocks topped out. Offroad it lifted a rear tire of the ground very often...

But he, maybe you got lucky.

You can fit OME springs to stock front shocks no problem.

Just out of curiosity: At full droop and full lock does your outer tie rod rub against the stabilizer bar?

Hey to each its own. Not everyone always has the same problems as everyone else you know. The rear shocks are not stock either. They are rancho shocks with 3'' lift and the let the suspension max before rear coils come out. Like i said i know suspensions on TJ's so i have some knowledge i can use towards KJ's. Ok thanks alot.

No it doesnt at all either

 :? :? :? :? I think we are all just trying to help you out here. Everything mentioned is from past experiences from other members and their problems. Also its a very well known fact how high you can go with a CRD before problems occur.
Sorry if you did not get the answers that you were looking for

Hey tommudd i am not being mean or anything. I am taking everyone's advice to heart really. All i am saying is that not everyone has problem's with a lift. I understand the problems faced with lifting the CRD and why you can only go so high. Like i said i am not being mean or anything, i am taking everything in about this cause i don't know anything about these libby's and how they work. I got all the answer i have asked for and much more. Right now i am just trying to figure out what would be my best option. As stated before i found CRD heavy duty coils front and rear for $306. I have aftermarket shocks in the rear with 2 to 3'' of lift in them and i barely if any ever saw them extended past stock length when flexing. So i am just wondering if i should do the OME coils stated above and take the RK lift of and run like that?

Ok back to serious now:

You may get into trouble with your tire size and only OME springs. On your CRD you'll probably get around 2" lift from the springs alone.

So you could do like me and others before me, add a topplate ( rusty 1/4 or RRO 3/8 ) and a 3/8 clevis lift. Then your back somewhere around 3"/3,5" again

But that's for you to decide.

HAHA she is still new to wheeling so ya.

Also with those springs, since it may only provide 2'' of lift could i use the Rear spring spacers from the RK kit to lift the rear, and then what buy RRO, rusty's, and who else's strut spacer? Of could i somehow cut down the RK Fork lift and weld it back together and get the extra lift that way?

If you useing the stock top plate then you can go with an RRO top spacer plate, they are 3/8 inches think compared to Rustys which is 1/4 inch, you will get double that amount of lift ( ie say Rustys 1/4 inch will net you 1/2 inch of lift)
OME CRD coils (front are OME790s)
rear OME948s

with the top plate and if needed a 1/4 inch of clevis I would think you would be in great shape and not destroy anything

What do you have as far as front shocks now? rear should be good but if you havethe stock front I would go ahead and swap them out now and be done.
OMEs are great coils, I have over 80,000 Lifted miles on mine now ( not a CRD but running Heavy Dutys)

I suppose those rear pucks are like the ones I used to have so around 2,5" /3"thick. Then I personaly wouldn't add those to the rear of your KJ, the OME coil is stronger and bigger then the OEM one and I guess you want it level instead of having the rear higher then the front.

What you can do is add 2 extra OEM upper isolators, that gives you an extra inch on the rear.

If you feel comfortable cutting the RK clevis and welding it back together at a for you desired lenght (maybe add a re-enforcing plate over te cut) then...yeah, go for it, would be the same as adding topplates and clevis lift.

OW: if you do decide to go the topplate route, the RRO 3/8 doesn't fit with the stock studs. You'll have to put in longer ones or use bolts.

And: the KJ's IFS works different then your TJ, for every inch you add to the front shock/clevis combo you get 2 inches of lift.

...you may find me asking to many questions but you are the first guy I meet on here that has hands on experience with this lift..and on a CRD.

How much distance is there between the spring and the UBJ? Or do you have the JBA arms already? Do you have extended bumpstops?

Tony
3 times now I have seen you post that the RRO plates will not work with the stock top plate without replacing the studs :? :? :? :? which is wrong.
I have RRO spacer plates on mine, stock top plates and stock studs and no problems at all unless they shortened them somewhere along the line after 04.
Now if you would try and use RROs on top of a Frankenlift then no they will not work but Rustys will.

This has been tested and proven in my garage on two different vehicles.

Just want to make sure we are getting the right info out there

Hmm that's weird...after I added your :D 1/4 Rusty's there was no thread left after fitting the nut...I had to put my front diff breather in a different place with a tie-wrap since it could no longer grab any thread on the OEM stud...

So I guessed that if you fit a 3/8 spacer you run short of thread on the OEM stud. Or did you settle for halve the nut grabbing thread on the stud?

OK that is weird, on the one we used the Rustys spacer plate on the Frankenlift there are no threads showing, but on mine using the RRO spacer plate and the OEM top plate I have 2 threads showing above the nut :? :? :? :? :? wonder if they used different lenghth studs or ???

Sorry Tony

I decided on the Rusty's lift with the shocks. I won it off ebay for $107 I think i did good and it will work until i can get back to work.

2.5" = $107
Tires = FREE
Not having to be pulled over the dunes at the end of may = PRICELESS

ok ok ha ha i am so lost you guys posted alot. Alright so can someone put a list of what i should get then for the new springs and lift.

Right now i see the OME 790's fronts and OME 980 rear's. Ok so RRO is rockroad outfitters right? I dont see the Rusty's strut spacers. K so no to using the rear pucks from the RK lift which yes are about 2.5 to 3.5'' But i can cut them down to what i need them for. Where do i find this stuff btw. Ohh and yes front struts are stock still

Oh ok i would have to get some measurements for you bro and let you know the clearance for ya. Using stock arms and there is no rubbing anywhere at all. Only this that rubs on the girl's libby is tires in fender well haha.

OME front are OME 790 as you have
rear are OME 948s

RRO is Rocky Road Outfitters

coils can be bought from
AllJs ( www.boulderbars.com)
4X4 Connection 888-805-0810
OK4WD 908-454-6973 www.ok4wd.com
I have bought coils from all of the above for various customers and all have the same pricing and all great service
I would contact Alljs for at least the front OME Shocks (struts) Everyone says that they hold up better than Ranchos on a CRD
Teraflex bumpstops for the front ...now OME states that you do not need them but its cheap insurance and also keeps the tires out of the flares

this will be a start for you
