Precisely why I said, "I would be curious to see what they would sell them for". I would pay $10 for a set for looks. Conduit nuts are $1.87 at HD here so it would cost me that much to do it either way.

Lesson to be learned today

People will spend money on silly things like machined clevis rings, but when it comes to buying a decent lift will go cheap and buy a spacer lift instead of investing in a full coil lift.

That is why I just have to sit back and laugh

To each his own

I agree Mr Tom, but some may not have the funds to do it the way we do, and need to go other routes. In my younger days, I did the same, now Im old and wiser :D

It’s called save your money and do right the first time. There are too many people today that are impatient. If you can’t afford doing it right, then you probably can’t afford doing it wrong.

I agree, although some of the stuff on my early Jeeps/ Broncos was sort of scary but I was 22 and it was 1976 and the world was different. Had to make your own stuff, now log onto any 4X4 shop or forum and order great products to be delivered 3 days later.
It is cheaper to do it right the first time though

I agree as scary as when we stuck a 396 rat engine into a 1971 Chevy vega staion wagon  30 over with a 3/4 lift cam with 5/10 lift and a dana rear with 533's hawling 650 horse awsome :D :D . No money but all the knowhow, and we loved every minute of it. In todays economy I defend those who do whatever they need to do with what they can afford, if it looks good and feels good , just do it. At times you try to save money and you just dont get there due to other prioroties, so make due with what you got. Just remember , not all of us were in the position at one time to do thing 100% correct when we did not have the funds to do it. But we found a way... and we learned

 that reminds me of a BMW I 'build'.............then crashed because the suspension / brake combo wasn't really ready for an engine twice the original size....

I agree with the idea of a clevis lift, I disagree with spending 50 bucks, i just ordered mine from lowes shipped and it cost me $6. I got a question about it though, I've seen where some of you wrap electrical tape around the locknuts and some of you don't. Why's the why or why not, and should I do 2 on each side or 3.

Yea some people have done 5 or whatever, but with 3, it looks like it's pushing the strut a ways off the clevis, enough to make me nervous, but a lot of people seem to be doing it?

Well, for what it's worth, I'm spinning some up on my lathe this weekend!
I know, it's not needed and conduit nuts are used strictly for measurement
purposes only, but seeing I have a lathe. (A quality made Medford lathe
from the UK thats been in the family for the last 30 plus years...) And it comes with
a fully qualified aerospace Journeyman tool and die maker with sixty years of
real life work experience.
My father, he worked on the very first Boeing 747 milling the wing trusses out of billet
Titanium. Among other things!
Oh, I'll be machining 3/8's of an inch off of my inner CV joints as well.
May as well, I have all the time in the world.

Say....didn't Tom have a "perfect" gas pipe/ready rod roof rack $29 and now has this expensive bling rack? It is funny what people will spend their money on ! and comment on others.
