I believe Marlin is away until Thurs. He ordered the new springs and I emailed him to post on this thread which I'm sure he will do Thursday or afterward. He wants everything to be correct and backs his product with a money back guarantee. Joe

Joe Jeeper.

What the go with the flex on your aviator pic. Your flexing good in the back but looks like no flex up front, I can see the swaybar is still connected but I'd have thought it would stuff more than that?

He was removed. Hopefully the MFG of the lift will chime in and we can get the info from the horses mouth.

It's called independent suspension, you can see though all 4 tires are on the ground.

I've never removed my sway bar in front nor installed longer links since the lift, looking at that photo maybe I should? Anyone care to share their experience removing the front sway bar for wheeling? Joe

i have both my front and rears off. i leave it that way on the road as well. the rear makes the bigest diff. the front im not to sure that it helped that much mostly cause i have stock UCAs. the front was easier to get off maybe.. well easier to get to. and with only the rear off i couldnt tell the ride was any diff.but i could flex more and still keep the tire on the ground. i tested this on an articulation ramp.

My 2002 with front sway bar removed...the passenger side is completely stuffed and the drivers side is drooping fairly well:

Heard from Marlin. Sounds like a nice guy who knows his way around cars and fabbing. He will be here to answer some questions soon. Again, my intent is not to bash this lift, I'm still just a bit taken back on how this thing is unfolding. I guess I'm not as adventurous as some.

Dave,
I am on vacation, but I will address all your questions when I am back in
the office.

I will say this, the big mistake that I made was, I was using Als old KJ for
the engineering info, I should have used a factory or stock unit. There were
a lot of changes that Al did that I did not know about. I will get this
error fixed and will have a quality lift for all to enjoy. I will not make
the same mistake with other products in the future!

FYI: I am a motor head of 44 years, I built 2 kit cars at the age of 16, a
1952 MG & 1950 Jag, I worked at a speed shop for 3 years, I have 5 years
experience as an auto mechanic (2 years at a Chrysler dealer ship), 20 years
in the custom fabrication business. Taking over what Al started is a
personal passion. I love it when someone tells me it can be done! When
there's a will there's a way!

I will get to your questions!

Thanks
Marlin Gehman

If you ever followed me, you would have known you street queen. (Just kidding Joe-you know I love you!)

Seriously, I found if your running rocks disco'd-you actually lose clearance with the increased flex when one tire stuffs and the KJ remains level. In a rock garden riddled trail in a LWB KJ on 31's, every inch counts. Connected the whole thing lifts like in Joes pic. Disco only helps increased stuff on IFS, it doesnt add that much more droop like on a SFA Jeep.

I never go offroad without removing the sway bar, 10 min & 6 bolts later it's all good to go. Can't see myself getting the quick disco, so a socket set is good enough for me

Ditto. I stopped removing it when wheeling and I have not seen enough negative effect to go back to removing it again. I get to the same destination as everyone else w/ no more effort than the rest.

anyone see the latest issue of Peterson's? Check out the article titled "Travel vs. Traction." You just might think twice about that sway-bar... and lockers.

This should be the link to their website. You can pick it up at any book store or even Walmart. Petersen's is the publisher.

Whats it say? I can say I'd be willing to bet my left nut that on a SFA, a sway bar disco gets more bang for the buck that a locker, but on an IFS rig with a measley 8" of travel, a locker up front would help more than disco'ing.

Why don't most people just throw a locker on it? Is the fact that it's not SFA causing an issue? I'm a noob still
