My libby was a fleet vehicle before I bought it so it has probably never been put in 4 lo. I've tryed to do it a couple times but it just goes up to part time 4hi and won't go any higher. Maybe I'm doing somthing wrong. The manual says to go about 3-5 mph and to put it in neutral then pull it up to 4lo. It aint working though. Any tips or tricks? |

Try putting trans in N(vehicle stopped) and then pull back, that's what I do(I hate hearing the grinding that sometimes can happen). |

Don't forget that when you get to neutral there is a gate . You must push the lever to the far right and then down to get into lo range |

x2 on this, it's most likely your problem. Look at the line going down the 4x4 selector. Coming to you, it goes straight, then over right, then diagonally closer. You use this line to shift into 4lo. Put it in N, then pull the shifter into N, then right, then up. Put it back in D and you're good to go. |

TJKJ that sounds like a great idea I too hate to hear that noise. Can anyone weigh in on this sense its not the "correct" way to enter into 4LO...at least from the manuals point of view....? I thought I had heard before that all wheels need to be rotating at the same speed when entering into ANY 4 wheel drive mode? |

I always put it in neutral, stop & put it in 4lo to avoid the grinding |

JeeperCreeper - I've used my 4-Lo quite a bit but this weekend I was unable to engage the low range and will be heading to the dealer later this week to get some warranty love. It sounds like you're going through the correct motions; it's not that big a trick to get it into low. If it's not engaging just take it to the dealer and tell'em to fix it. Apparently it's not uncommon for the alignment of the linkage to become offset a bit. |

I tryed it again this morning and it worked. I didn't realize you had to pull the handle off to the right. The diagram on the handle is confusing it actually points off to the left for 4Lo. |

when you stop, are you allready in 4HI? Or were you still in 2WD and pulled it straight through 4HI---N---to 4LO? |

Shows going left? Mine doesnt. It points to the left if you are going back into 4hi. |
