Post subject:  This weekend at the Y O Ranch

This weekend my local club, Austin Jeep Exclusive, met up with the San Antonio chapter, for a run down at the Y O Ranch outside of Kerrville Texas. About 50 Jeeps in all, however I was the only KJ. I ran with the Stocker/Open group. There was also a Medium and Extreme group. I had to take a strap several times, although so did everyone else that was open. My camera ran out of battery before all of the really exciting stuff happened, of course. Like a four truck operation to get us through the end including strapping and multiple winch lines. Check the gallery and let me know what you think.

Looks like you had a lot of fun. The KJ really has a strong frame under it. No damage I hope.

Looks like fun but Idk why that stock/open. Some of those pics look alittle rough, and I believe you could of made all of that open if you take the right line. A locker does make a world of difference though!!

Where did you buy ur grabbers? The tire places around here have never heard of them. I guess tirerack is the only place that has them?

It was crazy fun. We were in the stock group because quite frankly the "medium" group required at least one locker and the acceptance of possible body damage. The extreme group were tube buggies and portal axle rigs. The lines that were drawn through the creeks were what you see, and some of those were the bypass. Believe me, I tried as many different lines I could though to avoid the strap, but in the end, it was the only way. A No-Slip is definitely in the KJ's future.

I got my Grabbers at Discount tire and they had to order them. They matched Tirerack's price + $20 for mount and balance.

Haha, sounds to me like they need to divide them up alittle more. 3 different divisions just isnt enough. Easy, break the jeep, and go off cliffs just doesnt cut it.

Ill keep calling around but since no one is open(july4th) then cannot get prices to order them.

I agree. However, besides me, the stock Rubi, the open diff CJ5 and the open diff CJ8, the only other stock vehicle was a (WK?) Grand with no mods that stopped a little down the trail to park and ride. And for all I know maybe the other groups split up more. All of the lifted Rubi's and wranglers in our group the first half of the day, split off into their own group for the second half, to find more challenges and obstacles.

Good luck on the tires. I really like mine.

that looked quite fun and i will one day start making my way west to ride for now i must concer the east
if you liked that you should come down and ride with us we do the same ridding without the rocks and we very rarely pull out the strap usualy we strap when it gets muddy or if the up hill is too off camber for open diffs but most of the time we can get you on a line to make it
rember when it comes to trail ridding like that it is 70% driver knowin his or her rig

Very nice! Was Nate and Texas Sara there?

I never saw them. I looked for Nate's TJ, but in a sea of TJ's with 4" of lift and 33's, they all start to look the same. And I never saw Sara hanging around either.
