| Post subject: | Reasonable Clevis Lift Amount |
I'm about to finally do some real work to my 04 Liberty, took some time to gather all the parts and do some reading up on what is what. I am installing the 2.5 " Skyjacker Coilover Lift with the Platinum rear shocks. I would like to do a clevis lift while I have all the parts disassembled. After doing some reading in here I am leaning towards doing a 5/8th inch clevis lift. Is that safe? Can u secure it so it wont slip? I want to fit 265/75r16 revos after this is done and would like to get it as high in the front as I can safely do so. Also, has anyone done a clevis lift and then wanted to raise the rear so it slopes forward again compensating for the clevis. I was thinking of putting in some coil spacers, but not sure if they will work or which height? Thx for anyone's help. |

I don't know for sure but 5/8" maybe be pushing it.. the problem here is your CV joint angle.. the higher you go the worse it gets, and Skyjacker (at least in the early days) had a problem with this without any clevis lift at all. As for making the rear higher again, I personally like the look better with it leveled out. |

thx for the info. will probably do the lift 1st then see if there are any problems before doing anything with clevis, if at all. better safe than sorry i guess. |

Doubt you'd need (or want) any additional lift with that kit... |

My clevas lift didn't hold after two attempts so I finnaly just did away with it. I would wheel good and hard the first post lift and post clevas lift just to make sure it will hold for you before adding the rear spacers. I did a 1/4" clevas and it leveled the KJ out really nice. Too bad that is gone. |

I've never had a problem with a Clevis lift not holding. I do torque it down pretty tight, but haven't had any problems yet. Knock on wood. |

If you want a clevis lift that won't slip just use 2 1/2" conduit locknuts as spacers. Each locknut is about 1/8" thick and you can easily stack two for 1/4", three would pobably work too, but I haven't tried that. The locknuts are available from Home Depot and others at about a buck for a package of 2, and they fit nicely over the ends of the struts. |
