I'm in the market for a basket. I'm going to go for the one from Surco, but I'm confused about the size. Surco recommends a 40 X 60 for a Liberty Sport. Does anyone know if it will fit a 300 6 Renegade? And how about if I go for a wider one like a 50 x 60, can I get away from using cross bars or is it going to look incredibly stupid?

i have a 45X50 and it fits perfect it goes 45 left to right and 50 front to rear
i think that any thing more will be to wide
also with this rack you can order the rack for like $150 and 4 U-bolts from homedepot to connect it

Do you have it bolted directly to the the rails with the U bolts or did you use cross bars?
If possible, I want to stay away from the cross bars as they raise the whole basket 2-3 inches (sport rack system).

Surco's rack has an integrated cross bar. So you don't need to buy any for it.
What you will need are the mounts, unless you go with the U-bolts.

Took me about 15 minutes to assemble and 2 minutes to mount on the KJ.

KJKev, I'd prefer to go with the mounts. Do think it should mount on the Renegade too, as it has thicker rails? What size is your basket, it looks like a perfect kit?

If you are lifted, have a garage, and you want to park in the garage, check to see how high the Surco will sit on your roof.
