Post subject:  Lot of Reading but one check before the plunge....(lifting)

Okay I have gathered a boat load of info from the forum in a whopping week. I just want to hear little things I may be overlooking before I lift the lib...I am having a local 4x4 shop do the work and they more or less built me a spacer lift such as Rusty's, Billet, or Daystar...just wondering if there are any little things that need to be done

For example when I lifted my dakota I jad to extended the brake lines and some hoses..anything like that need to be done? People who have spacer lifts and installed them your advice would be much appreciated!!!!

You will need longer front bumpstops or extend your stock ones or you can overcompress your shocks and ruin them.

Found this old post but had I few questions I could not find...is this for both front and rear? Are the 06 CRDs the same? How did everyone else extend theirs...this is a subject I have not found much on at all...I guess it isnt necessary? I mean if you dont extend them or get new shocks you stock struts and shocks will just ruin quicker??

if you are not going to pu bigger tires then you may not need to extend the bump stops
when you have the spring out jack the axel till it hits the bumpstop
then attch one end of the shock fully compress it if it will not fit because it is to long then you need that much extension +.25"
if the shock will not go in because it is to short then no need to extend

rember that all this is only good if you do not plan to run bigger tires

There may be a really simple answer to my question. Why would the size of your tires affect whether your struts bottom out or not. Unless your tire hits the wheel well befor your strut bottoms out of course :) Check out this link for why upper strut spacers trash your struts.

Give me a minute and I will find it. BRB

Okay here you go

Absolutely nothing!

I found that you can order the skyjacker bumpstops which are longer but you have to find a local truck shop that can order the part for you. I just ordered mine but they have not come in yet so I don't know if they are long enough but they are longer so well see.

the part # is LBS3383 for the front.

There isn't alot of info on the website about them.

The shop charged me 33 bucks for the pair so it they don't work, well I won't cry about the lost money.

(That is awesome, I write the word lost and look what happens!)
