I am trying to decide which to go with, trailready bumper (winch is mounted in bumper oand looks better), or go with the rock lizard front bumper which has a 2" receiver that you use one of those portable winch setups (portable is cool because you and put on front or rear bumper). what do you guys think? what is the advantages to each diff. setup? |

I would rather not have the extra weight of a winch setup always sitting in front of the already stressed front suspension. W/ the portable setup you also have the ability to move it to the rear receiver (if wired for it) or to another vehicle that might be in a better position for winching (if they also have a front receiver) |

I don't think Trailready still makes bumpers 0311_DoC got this comment from them when he was looking "I don’t have every model in every configuration shown however, and not much on Liberty as we only made them for a year in our first run." even on the comparsion that Tokyojoe started http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=10059&highlight=bumpers only ARB is currently shipping - Rocklizards will be soon (Aug/Sept?) so your choice is probably ARB or Rocklizard |

I would agree that due to weight a portable setup is better how ever it would be a royal p.i.t.a. if you are stuck good to go to the back of the jeep get out the winch hook it up then put the winch back in the jeep I have never been on a trail where you could just leave it there ,front or rear, the winch would end up causeing you to get stuck both of these pics are from the easyest trail we currently run here in Louisiana

I was on trailrerady's site and it says, "Liberty bumpers are back in production and we're taking orders now!" |

My TrailReady front and rear's were great and the winch setup was nice...didn't have to lug it around ect. If you go to a rope (synthetic) instead of metal cable and replace the Fairlead Rollers with a Synthetic Rope Fairlead it saves about 22#s and is safer. The bumpers of course add weight but your approach and departure angles are increased HUGE. They are very expensive tho so get ready to pay. |
