What kind of wheeling are you going to be doing?
The factory skids are affordable and work fine for most wheeling. The only one I would go aftermarket for sure is the Transmission skid and IMHO and from what I have seen of the competition, All J's is best for the Transmission. I have a lightly used engine, front skid for sale cheap, PM me for info.

The AllJProducts Tranny Skid and the Kilby Fuel Tank Skids are about the best...serious armor

so do i need the front and the transfer skid? will the differnt brands work together up front.

DARBY- you have trail ready bumper does the front skid still work with that bumper?

Yea, whats been said above. The front mopar skid is good enough but the gas tank and tranny skids are alittle weak. The tranny skid is good and strong, but doesnt cover very much area. The all J skid covers EVEYTHING in that area.

My factory gas tank skid held up fine to our West coast rocks and lots of them, actually I rarely hit it anyway. FOr the price you can't beat it.
Same for the factory front skid, beefy and cheap. Save the money from buying aftermarket and use it for bars, recovery points or other goodies.
I know the All J skid will work w/ the factory front and transfer case skids.

i have full mopar skids - front diff, trans case, transmission - they are really inexpensive, if you are not going to do hard core wheelin in the jeep, i would go with those. they are good and strong, and like was mentioned above, save that money for something else, like a good lift, or rock rails, etc...

i dont think i paid over $130 for all the skids that i bought from the stealership.

Wow good price considering the gas tank runs $100 or more. You can get some good discounts at http://www.Jparts.com and http://www.wyckoff-mopar-parts.com

Do you have a skid on the front under the engine/suspension? You will need that one, the Transmission skid, transfer case skid and gas tank.
Jparts.com shows the following:
Engine skid
Transfer case skid
Gas tank skid

Unfortunately they don't show the correct pics except for the engine skid.

Which dealership was it that gave you this deal. Jake Sweeny, Kings? Do you think they would do it again? Oh, and did you get the tow hooks too?

Hi all,
Just to clear things up for our friend....

You will want at least the Super Skid and the Kilby Gas Tank Skid if you off-road your KJ. If you are interested in the other skids, All J Products sells them too.

Mopar Engine Skid: $55
Mopar Transfer Case Skid: $55
Kilby KJ Gas Tank Skid: $280
All J Products Super Skid (I or II): $265.95

I don't think everyone knows it, but All J Products sells and installs all of these skids, so if you call them, you will get detailed information on each of them and how they protect your vehicle's underside.

I recommend for someone who is driving on-road to get only the Mopar skids. If you are doing any bit of driving off-road, I suggest that you get the Super Skid and the Kilby Gas Tank Skid too. The Super Skid protects everything from the first cross member to the second cross member, including the oil filter! The Kilby Gas Tank Skid protects that precious plastic tank holding your liquid gold. The Mopar skids are pretty flimsy, but can help if you hit something while on the trail or on the road. We consider them "disposable" for the most part. One good hit and they're toasted.

Hope this was helpful to you. :)

All J's Super Skid II is hardcore and will protect you but full skid set is still a MUST. The Mopar Front Skid does an awesome job for its cost.

Thats the spirit ! Skid's are like insurance, to late to get the good coverage when you need it ...gotta get it before you need it.
