Saw this link on another forum - http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060801/ap_on_go_ot/jeep_recall

Looks like they're recalling & replacing lbj's on all 2002-2006 Liberties.

But are the new parts really any better, or are current LBJs being replaced with the same defective part? If the latter, that's just delaying the problem, not actually correcting it.

I've seen Moog LBJs for $54 each and free shipping. That still may be the way to go -- after driving on the new OEM parts for about 25,000 miles, of course.

Im mad. Just changed mine about a month ago. I wouldnt of wanted to ride on that one joint until september though. I guess I shoult of tried the dealer. Then if they wouldnt of changed them b/c of the lift, I could of pointed and laughed when I went back for the recal.

I cannot believe DC did this to them self! If wasnt 3-4 years ago they recalled 800k duangos and dakotas for the same thing! What in this world are they thinking. I surely hope they have let their mechanical engineer go. So sad to see such a good company do something this stupid! And this is the second time on the libbys! In a way im glad it did happen, that way all these soccer moms out there wont have their wheel fall off. I just do not understand why in 2002 when they had that recall they didnt start using better joints then? Ignorance!

I called my stealership today and they have absolutely no info. for me. Before I bought my rig it was already involved in at least 1 recall and it looks like maybe 2. All DC did to my Jeep was to retro-fit a heat shield to "protect" my LBJ

I saw it on the news last night too - Just goes to show you how little DC cares. They knew about it, we all know about it. I brought mine to the dealer just before I installed my lift, they said the balljoints were with in spec and charged me $86. I brought it to an alignment shop 1/2 later they said the balljoints were shot.

I called the dealer back and said I was coming in Hot so be ready with a Jack and crow bar.

I pulled up blocking the service enterance and would not talk to anyone but the service manager. The whole dealership was stopped dead in its tracks - Service and Sales Customers and employees all standing watching me be irate for 20 minuites. Cars cant get out or in. I made them bring me a Jack and a crow bar and made the Service manager see the ball joints. He tried explaining on a micromiter how 1.5 mm is actually 15mm bull.

I got both balljoints, 1 new cv they wrecked and all my money back.

Dont let the dealers screw you, some will if you let them.

this is great news, I saw the recall on Fox News. But that is a heck of a lot of vehicle, will take some time to fix them. I wonder if they will not fix it for lifted Libs.

But when I get my notice in the mail, should I go back to the dealer that wanted to charge me just to check them a few months ago or the dealer I go to now that has an offroad shop and mods jeeps too. I kinda want to rub the first dealers nose in it for not checking them when they had the chance.
