I now have an early 2002 Liberty that is in need of some new tires. I'm new to this forum but not to Jeeps(now have TJ WJ and M38a1. had TJ's YJ CJ5 XJ and ZJ). The KJ is the latest addition. I know that the early 02's sat up about an inch higher than the later models. I have a stock set of 16x7 alloy rims from a 98 Grand Cherokee Limited that are the 5 on 4 1/2" bolt pattern that bolt right up. The back spacing is about 3/4" more than the stock KJ steel rims which will push the wheel out a little. Has anyone tried this? Do you think the 245's will rub or should I stick with the stock 235's. I was thinking of putting a slight lift (1 1/2")in the front but that might be a little later. Rusty

The 245/75s will rub on probably the swaybar and the pinch weld even with 2.5" lift. Expect the same with no lift.

There have been many who ran 245/70's on stock rims on unlifted early 02 (pre-lowered) KJ's w/ No rubbing or problems. Using them on the rims you mentioned should get them away from the sway bar too. Now 245/75's are a different story.

I have a 02 pre lowered liberty with Bridgestone Revo 245/70-16 and have had no rubbing at all.

I ran 245/70-16 on my KJ when it was stock height and loved them as well. No rubbing.
